How to polish engine to a shiny chrome effect

Can anyone tell me how to polish up my engine so it looks like chrome, something like what Jase did on his 197.

to get it smooth you will need to go up grades of sandpaper.

when i done my rx7 engine parts

i started with:
180 grade
240
300
400
600
800
1000 with wd40 as lube
1500
2000

then went on to a polishing mop with:
course
medium
fine compounds

then finished with a metal polish

thats just being blunt, tuck a long time and a new elbow but was worth it.

Can I do it with the part still fitted as its the main engine block top I want to do. So it's just a case of making the surface smooth then just polish it up?
