Hillclimb event Knysna, Sout Africa

This past weekend we had a big hillclimb event at a golf estate in Knysna. The track is basically a 1.9km uphill climb on one of the mountain roads leading up to the golf course itself. Was an awesome event - great turnout with lots of cars: Audi - RS2, R8's; Nissan - GTR's (old and new), 350Z, 370Z; Ariel Atoms; Porsche - Le Mans car (don't know which model), 911's; Evo 8 (last years winner - driven by a 74 year old!); F430; Mustangs; etc.

I didn't compete as I have a nagging engine mount issue that still needs sorting but a couple of the guys from our RS Club did. And they did relatively well in their classes.

Unfortunately, I didn't get many pics of the other cars - so just a few of mine and some other RSs that were there.

Also, apologies for the crappy phone cam pics.

Had my calipers done about a week before the event. Decided on yellow (too many red around imo :wink:) Here's the last pic before:

:swear::swear:

HOLY ****!! That poor R8, I'd have properly shat my pants if that was me. I could tell there was some write offs before I saw you post cos of all the tyre marks leaving the road!

Looks like great fun, if not a little dangerous....

Was great fun, and luckily there weren't any serious injuries, despite the writeoffs. Just some bruised egos. And wallets. Guess it's all part of it when guys are really pushing for a good time.

In the end GTR's (R34s and R35s) really dominated, taking the first 6 or seven positions. The Evo 9 (driven by a 74 year old race legend in SA) that won it last year pulled out at the end of day 1 unfortunately. Once that'd happened, it was Nissan all the way.

Just to give you some perspective. The fastest Renault Sports (RS250 and a couple of R26s) completed the 1.9km course in about 50+ seconds. The winning GTRs did it in about 40ish - although in a different class obviously.
