hi

Hi - new member - I wanted to check out the clio 200's for sale but even after becoming a member the site wont let me - I'm hoping after posting something the site may let me!

Am currently driving a land rover discovery and am contemplating getting a clio 200 so checking out as much of the market as possible - any help welcome - hopefully I will find out a few things on this forum.

Thanks

Hi Richard.

Firstly - welcome to the forum.

I do know there was a 'glitch' with Paypal payments being 'recognised' and linked to usernames a while ago. Meaning folk like you who joined; didn't get full access right away. Hopefully if it doesnt happen soon @Nik can look into it for you.

Good luck finding a great 200. Fab cars. Not as good as a Land Rover discovery in the muddy-bits though....

Enjoy your stay.

Welcome along..enjoy your stay and give it a little time..it will go through..

Thanks for the replies. I didn't realise I needed to pay in order to see stuff for sale!
I've got to be frank, I'm not up for paying when potentially the same things are elsewhere online and as I've just started looking, I have no idea if this is the main forum for these cars.
I think I'll need a fair bit of convincing to pay to be a member of an online forum.
If someone happens to have a sub 70k mile white 200 with cup suspension and recaros for not too much ideally lancashire based we could be onto a winner.
If they want to try a disco 3 even better!
Good luck all.
Cheers

It's for your security so when if you buy you have a contact and a trace @Richard McCann I understand a fiver is a lot of cash to some folk but take care

Theres no same thing anywhere else. The resource on this site for these cars is endless, and it doesn't cost nothing to keep it ticking!

If you want a free site to buy a car, try eBay.

Then if you find the one you want, something goes wrong, or you want to do a mod, change something, and want some advice, then feel free to come back!

Goodluck to you :thumb:

Each to their own and you are 100% entitled to your own opinion and views Richard. And in no way would i try to convince you otherwise. I'm sure you're big enough to make your own decisions.

However:

In reference to your post - I would argue we are a little bit more than a 'forum' as you put it though....

The 'How to's' section here (Access to which is only gained by paying members I will add) is quite the wealth of knowledge: and I would think an unrivalled collective source of info regarding various and numerous tasks / jobs / maintenance on these cars.

'Fairly' specialist cars i might add - and a car that many-many site users have previously come on and invested the minimum £5 joining up here: in order to hopefully buy from a dedicated and enthusiastic site participant: rather than from a run of the mill former owner who knows nothing of the quirks and traits of these cars and what is required ref owning one - to keep it sweet.

From looking around you will have no doubt seen the spirit of this place - and I've seen info shared, spare parts offered freely, unbelievable selfless acts and lifelong friendships made here. Genuinely.

As enthusiasts - meet ups, rideouts, Regional and National get togethers, track days, days out and even driving-based holidays have and are all organised here for and by the membership.

Apart from that the banter, ethos, friendliness and informative daily topics here are second to none. I've been a member of tens of forums, helped moderate one other (Not car related) forum, and also maintained my own forum at one point. And I have never known such a well run forum, frequented by such amiable and like minded members.

I will also add - that all involved in the running of this site do so voluntarily and make not a single penny from any membership fees. It is on the most part ploughed back into the sites substantial daily running costs, giveaways, competitions, yearly meet fees (French Car Show stand) etc etc. So on the back of this - it makes no direct difference to 'us' if you choose to join or remain a freeloader - as appropriate - if and when you find a car. And I don't say that lightly or to mock you - but as a site with ongoing costs: that is the harsh financial reality.

Good luck again in your search, and i hope some of the above has been helpful.

Welcome to the forum, Richard. Completely understand your views on paying to join a forum - which is why have a large majority of the site available to view regardless of membership status. As my colleagues have already alluded to, full membership does open up a huge amount more though, should you decide to go down that route.

Either way, it's a pleasure to have you on board, and good luck with the search.

I have to say its a great place this, signed up here many moons ago, since i returned last year its been a such a great place to talk to like minded people and quickly help with questions problems and of course the banter is second to none here.

Something you find here which is really rare is the fact that no one judges anyone one else, some guys have standard Clios, some have full track focus cars, some have full on air ride show cars no ones excluded.

I paid last year for access to the for sale section and the how to guides, ive since sold a few bits, bought some to so saved some money overs selling via ebay.

And not to mention the group buys which occasionally happen worth every penny of my £5 I think i paid.

I love this place so much I paid £20 as they (Mods, Admin etc.) all do a cracking job and it's a great place to be and you learn SO much. Plus you get reminded that there's a race track in Belgium, called Spa according to @nutnutwelshman, but he doesn't talk about it all that much  :tongueout:
Once you find the right car, please come back and say Hi and start a progress thread - we'll all be egging you on to spend your hard-earned on mods and essential maintenance, it's very addictive!
Any questions about anything you find in your searches, just ask, we'll be more than happy to help

Richard,

Just to be clear, you're not paying to use the forum. You're using it already. And the absolute gold mine of information is almost all here for free.

There are however some sections that require premium membership. To access the "for sale" section and the absolutely superb "how to" section for the price of what is little more than a pint, represents extremely good value and I'm definitely not alone in thinking this. Look how many people are paid members and you might get an idea.

How much do you think hosting alone costs for this place? Especially given the high volume of traffic the site sees. I think you may be surprised. Not to mention the considerable amount of time the excellent moderators put in here for free. They're not on the make. What do you do for a living? How often do you do it without being paid? How about offering up all your knowledge for £5 a year?

Look at it this way, if your £5 gets you the car you want, it would be worth it just for that, let alone the other benefits for future parts purchases or maintenance info. Worked for us.

As far as what you said about "for sale elsewhere" good luck with that. If a fiver isn't worth the effort to you in order to be able to buy a car from a genuine enthusiast that often has an incredibly detailed history thread behind it, good luck with a trader from Pistonheads or some sketchy oik on facebook etc. The £5 doesn't just get the section unlocked, it gets you access to the sort of owners that you can't find elsewhere.

Oh and yes, there is NOWHERE as good as right here for these cars.

At the end of the day... it's £5 mate.

Thought you have been online more and more..still not sick of us?:excited:
