Hi All, can anyone tell me if the front cam tool is necessary to change the cam belt on a 197 cup? It's £300 to buy

I would imagine it would be very difficult to replace without a tool but it could be possible. You can try cutting the old belt in half lenght wise and then putting the new belt on free half of pulleys and finally removing the old one completely and just pushing new one in place. Seen it done like that but never tried.
You need these two tools to change the cambelt.

However, mine, which is in the blue case, is made by BGS. It has already worked well twice.
