What colour wire is the rev counter on the plug that goes into the back of the clock?

Need to feed a wire to measure revs.

Thanks people x

Also need to:

1. pull a feed of the potentiometer so that I can measure full throttle.

2. And an ignition live feed, any suggestions?

Still having no luck finding which wire feeds the rev counter or which wire will measure full throttle on the throttle body.

Anyone have any ideas.

I’ve had a look through the wiring diagram and i can’t see a wire dedicated for the rev counter. I might be wrong, but I can only assume it’s done with the CAN BUS system.

I don't know if it will be any help, but when i retro fitted TomTom i picked up a speed signal for it direct from the ESP unit. I got it from the connector for the radio, must be used for the volume increase option, might be worth a try. It’s the thin purple wire on the ISO connector (Pin 1).

Sorry just re-read what i put, you need rev not speed. Ignore me it's been a long day. Il check the diagrams again and see if i can see anything.

Mate, you are a star, thank you very much.

I am not sure if there are physical wires for the signals you need, but all of the information you need is available on the CAN bus.

Sounds like rev counter is out of the question then. Not got a clue about the canbus..

I can take an alternative feed from the crank sensor, anyone know where that is?

Sorry mate, been really busy at work. I got as far as tracking it from the TDC sensor to the injection computer then it just disappears, guess it changes to CAN bus at that point.

Like you said i think the best chance is to tack into it there. The TDC sensor is shown in this thread by Foxspeed, might help.

Cheers for your help Luke..

The wires I think I need were the blue ones from the tb and the crank sensor, we'll find out this afternoon when the car goes back in to have its little goodies finished...
