Hello Guys, me again

I've written before, saying I was about to buy a 197 but that fell through and I'm out of a job, but I've most recently seen the prices become a lot more attractive and ive seen a clean 2006 with 55,000 mileage at around 3500 that im going to try work down a bit more. I just want a few pointers as to what i could expect down the line and through the years and how much it costs. If not answered here can I be refereded, thank you. The owner of said vehicle as claimed to have already done the belt..

Just get evidence for belts being done. Service history obviously essential. Likely problems? Synchro on 3rd & 4th is a bit of a lottery, but you take a gamble on that. The later cars are possibly a wee bit better on this, but by no means guaranteed safe. Just check for no grinding on a test drive. They're not great on mpg, but they're a naturally aspirated hot hatch so you shouldn't expect that, but if you're happy to rev them they're addictive & you will thoroughly enjoy the experience. Mine (a 200, but essentially the same car) has never let me down or shown any issues over 2.5 years ownership & several track days. Without checking, around 15000 miles including 9 track days. Look after them & service them & I think they'll look after you.

Great comments from John already. Just to add, that if you keep on top of maintenance with these cars then they will look after you and your wallet. This is essentially a performance car and they need to be looked after as such - neglect will cost an owner in the long term.

Servicing isn't overly expensive, especially if you use a quality specialist/indy garage and avoid paying silly dealer prices. Our forum parts supplier @renaultpartsdirect offer great deals on parts, should you need them.

They are such good, fun cars to drive and enjoy and they are incredibly rewarding. They aren't without their problems, but they certainly aren't horrors to own and live with, as some urban myths would have you believe.
