Heater Controls..

This i going to sound really odd, however, its a Renault so remember nothing is beyond the realms of possibility..

So when its and abnormally hot or cold day my heater/fan wont wont however i can get it working by hitting a pot hole or driving at speed with the fan selector on the mode that draws in external air.

has anyone had this problem before, a lot of things lean towards resistor packs however mine was done a year ago with a genuine part.

any ideas?

Does it just stop mate? Perhaps a loose plug or wire?

Mines been acting funny. If I go around a corner a bit quick, it sounds like it's scraping against something and it's forcing it to slow down. I've gotta turn it off for a while for it to come back on.

I reckon it's the lime in the air LOL!

Heater resistor more than likely its a common fault that it actually melts the wires on the plug behind the glovebox

Pull dash strip off shud be 3or 4 torx bolts cant remember off the top of my head ,open the glovebox and theres another torx in the middle ,open the door and pull the side panel off the 1 with the airbag sticker on then the last torx will be at the bottom.
The glovebox will now pull out with a bit of a tug, if you now pop your head under then to the right you shud see the resistor pack on the side of the heater with 2 torx bolts on it the plug that is attached is the 1 that normally melts.

I'm no expert on it [MENTION=52420]JamesB[/MENTION] but my first thought would be that it was the resistor again. My guess is that it is just a weak spot on these cars and perhaps they are prone to burning out/failing. I may be wrong and someone may have an alternate solution, but it's my best guess.

Was the wireing changed or just the resistor as on mine the plug had just melted causeing the pin to not contact correctly but luckily wasnt too bad so managed to scrape all theplastic away and save the plug [MENTION=52420]JamesB[/MENTION]

Gutted for you James.

Do you keep it on max speed all the time or something? May be why.
