Glove box light.

I have a spare 501 LED bulb so i thought i'd replace the one in the glovebox light.

How the hell do you get the light unit out to replace the bulb?

Fairly sure I didn't take my glovebox out to do mine!

Although I have taken it out for something.. so I could be wrong..

you need something long and thin enough to poke throught the whole
(no funny comments)
and prise off the light casing

Thats what i thought, mate has a special hook type of tool with a pointed end that i thought would do the job so i took a drive over to his garage.

Proding and pulling i was getting somewere when 'ping' the long button that the glovebox lid presses to turn the light on/off snapped off, but the light came out of the hole, not much good now though as the light had no way of turning off.

So i took the glovebox out of my diesel clio to see how it came apart, removed the light only to find . . . . . .

I thought the glovebox bulb was a festoon type? Or am I wrong?

Wish i'd have read this before attacking mine today.

At least i now knew how to remove glovebox hmy: i did the same on the 197 and put the working light into the cup, trouble is i now want a festoon LED so i'll have to remove the glovebox again when i get one.

It only takes a few minutes to remove glovebox so i'd recomend this for anyone else wanting to change the bulb allthough i think you could do it without.

That button that turns the light on will (i think) pull out, it's only held in with a fine wire for a spring, then you'd be able to remove light through the hole, change bulb, refit light unit and then just push the button back in the hole.
