Gearbox Oil

Afternoon Chaps :wiz:

I'm going to swap the gearbox oil this weekend, primarily because I've got the synchro issue when going into third at high revs. Admittedly the car had this when i bought it and i didn't notice it, it's not really a problem because it doesn't happen often and the gearbox still seems strong/smooth in all gears.

Main reason i'm doing it is preventative maintenance if that's a real thing!

Anyways what oil should i go for!?

Is the standard: Elf Tranself NFJ 75W-80 Gear Oil the best???

I don't think you can go wrong with OEM Elf stuff. I know a lot of people have tried the Redline oil, including me, and it gets generally good reviews. I personally couldn't tell any difference in the quality of the gearshifts between Redline and Elf, but it all comes down to personal preference.

As you say though, from a preventative maintenance point of view, it's well worth it whichever you choose

If it's a road car redline will be fine. We found after a few hard laps on track that the gearchange became knotchy. We are now running castrol.
