Roughly £2,200

However as it's just out of warranty I think you will be asked to pay around a grand. Dig your feet in and depending on your and the cars Renault history you may be looked after better.

Mine went 6 weeks out of warranty, I have a good (better than most) Renault history and the car had full dealer history. I also use the dealer a lot.

I had a new box and dug my heals in for a new clutch also and I paid £220. Which is the retail price of a clutch and I'd have put one in anyway with it being in pieces.

You can buy a new box for under £400 from Renaultspares in Altringham with 12 months warranty, then you just need it fitted, local garage should do it with a new clutch for less than £600, and it will be fixed in a week. By the time Renault respond and probably will not offer much in the way of goodwill, you will be so sick of the car that you will of sold it..... Unless you have a very good dealer, support on this we'll known issue is very hard work. If you don't have a full Renault service history forget it.

I pulled mine on Thursday around 4pm the day before goodfriday.

It being a bank holiday weekend I had a call before 10am on the Tuesday.

I then asked about the clutch and had a call back by 2pm and settled.

Gearbox took 24 hours and I had the car back on the Saturday.

So 8 days from call to getting it fixed including a Easter bank holiday weekend was excellent service imo.

quick update peeps took to dealers and looking at a bill of about £3000.00 renault say they give 40% might have a flight on me hands

From what ive read and seen on here about gearboxes, i personally believe that the gearbox in the rs isnt fit for purpose, its all well said and done offering 40 50 60 70% as a goodwill but off a 3000 bill its still to much, they should all be recalled and sorted f.o.c imo, if my gearbox ever starts i will get rid straight away

Really feel for all the folk with the gearbox issues, hope you get a decent outcome mate

So they still want £1,200. That's a LOT of money to be spending, esp at this time of year. Personally I'd be looking at Wombles suggestion above. I think his suggestion of £600 isn't far off the mark if you can get the box for £400.
