I've heard of full lock rubbing issues when 225s are been used to wrap stock wheels (Raiders, speedlines). Any rubbing with 225-Ultra package? Thanks

Yes!!! If it's low it catches the wings! Not the arch, but the painted plastic! Felt aweful as well compared to 215 IMO.

Is that due to the higher offset Mike? I have just fitted 225's to the standard wheels, the car is lowered and I've not experienced any rubbing.

I'm quite liking the wider tyre over the 215, be interested to know what made you think it was worse mate.

Yeah because of the offset buddy. Didn't have a problem ok standard wheels. But they felt a bit more floaty, the turn in felt tighter with 215's. But your tyres will have stiffer sidewalls so should feel better. I'm just sticking with 215's, some people may prefere 225 but not for me. All personal preference and how we like our cars setup

I just replaced my stock tyres with the same spec bar being 225's. Im running speed lines and no issues at all, much prefer the car feel with the little wider track

When i go 8j i will still run a 215 to keep tyre tight and less tyre movment to avoid a floating feeling .

Thanks for your responses. I'm sure I've read somewhere in this forum that 225s are causing rubbing issues on spedlines, maybe only on the 8j? It's not the point for me anyway because I'm going for ultras (different ET as you all know) and I wanted to make sure prior to ordering tyres. The thing is that 225s are more common (more options) therefore cheaper than the 215s but it seems that 215 is the way forward.

I've used the 8J clio cup wheels with 225s and they didnt rub, I've now got 8J Alleggeritas with 225s and still don't rub that I can notice/see on standard suspension.

The gap at full lock is small so under compression I'm sure they might rub but it depends how much lock you're putting on, normal driving you're not going to take many corners at full lock.

Either way it should be fine, as for side wall height I'm sure we've all watched F1 cars and they don't seem to mind having a big sidewall so I doubt the what.. 4mm'ish? difference is going to make much difference on a Clio.

Thanks mate. I'm going for either AD08s (camskill £149 per corner) or hankooks (£102 per corner), depending on my finances. I'm spending quite a lot at the moment.. The trouble is that I can't find AD08 at 215/40/18 only 225/40/18...Any help?

I was talking about during parking and maneuvering to be honest, and the reason I personally prefer 215s is because it's the closest I can get to the original spec (215/40/18 replacing 215/45/17)

Hope to have the AD08's in soon at £124 a corner to your door,the size i put on mine are 215/45/17 87 w.

Im running the Alleggeritas on 8/17 too, they have an Offset of 55.

With my 225/45/17 Toyo R1R they ARE rubbing. But not on the Outter Arch. They softly touch the black Plastic thing inside the wheel arch about in the middle. thats on Full lock. No rubbing under driving without Full Lock, even on the Track.

Im on Cup Suspension tho.

the R1Rs are a little wider than a "normal" 225er. Comes with the stiffened sidewall and a Squarish construction.

can you feel that much difference in a side wall that is 5.08 mm bigger??
