Failed MOT on ball joint badly worn

Hi,

I took my Clio 200 (Nov 2010, 27k miles) for a MOT today and it failed on: "offside hub ball joint badly worn"

I was quoted £373 from Halfords to fix.

My extended warranty ran out yesterday.

Pretty poor that it's "badly worn" after 27k miles. Has anyone had any luck with Renault contributing to the repair cost?
I have read you can replace just the ball joint? Are there any Renault specialists in South Wales that can do this?

Given that your warranty has just run out It'd be worth calling Renault and let then know about it. Who knows, you might get something out of it. If not, get a ball joint from RenaultSport and have it replaced.

I wouldn't say that you don't need a renault specialist to do it. I did mine at the local garage, changed both sides for good practice, easy job for a mechanic.
