Diffuser and Exhaust querstions

Firstly, how is the diffuser held on? Is it just screwed on or is it rivets?

Secondly, does the exhaust need cutting to fit a new cat back system? I was under the impression that at the cat to centre section join there was an exhaust clamp already?

Thanks in advance,

Stu

Torxed and clipped.

Exhaust should be clamped at the cat!

I thought so, but a very well respected Renault specialist told me that it needs cutting... which surprised me some what, especially as I'm sure it was at the cat to centre section join that they applied some silicone for me to stop it blowing when cold. Also said its quite a fiddly job and would take a couple of hours.

So should it literrally just be a job of take off diffuser, unbolt existing system, bolt in new one?

If so I might have a go at doing it myself as I dont fancy paying couple hours labour!

No....................you need to cut the standard exhaust to remove the standard exhaust !!! cannot just remove the diffuser and the exhaust drops out, it needs to be cut off

hey, not trying to put you off doing the job yourself but full exhusts can be a bit of a pain in the arse with out the aid of a ramp. iam not sure, but id say the exhust would be = down pipe+flexi pipe+cat+center box+ the back box, with breaks between bloted together. de cats and cat back systems mite nee cut and joined, in my experince it ubber hassle.

fitted a new cat to my old v6 vectra once, ended up a 2 day job, because of rusted down pipe studs sheering, endded up having to take the back bank maifold off and tap new studs in. not fun al that crawling around with no ramp. :@!

you need to cut the back box where it bends over the rear roll bar, if you look at the replacement backbox / system you are buying, you will see where the replacement has a clamp, that is where you need to cut it, and you really need an air cutting tool to cut it, search on ebay or on here for photos of exhausts for sale. and you will see where you need to cut it
