Confusion Over Ultra Red Paint Codes

I have been meaning to post up about this since last Thursday.

I had the day off, so went to Renault Wolverhampton to order a touch up pencil. I gave the lady on the desk the Reg of the car (both private and original), the paint code and the part number given to me by TwingoGeekeo.

The paint code on the list in this thread (click) and the paint code on the door of the car both say NNF.

Renault Wolverhampton say Renault don't list a paint colour to that code, although when they searched for the car, it bought back, guess what, NNF.

The part number TwingoGeekeo gave me, represents the paint name Ultra Red, to which the paint code is NNC.

So WTF has happened here? Renault have either painted my car a colour they don't know about or have just thought 'hey, vee will chang zee name of zit' and told no one.

I have ordered NNC and the guy the woman from the parts desk went and got from out the back, who must know a bit more about this kind of thing, says I can try before I buy due to the confusion. Even so, it's only £8.50, so no really great loss, but why is it like this in the first place?

Anyone got any ideas or had any experience of this?

Az.

i got NNF for mine and its spot on match

apparently the NNF touch up pen is labelled as 'TORO RED' which is the name for 'Ultra red' in other countries but renault forgot to change the name of the uk bound touch up pens.

Racing blue has changed progressively over the last 3 models of Clio, maybe the red has changed?!?

So I went to Renault Wolverhampton on Wednesday afternoon to pick up my touch up pencil. The woman on the desk was so dosy, I said I had come to pick it up and she looked at me like I had just sworn at her! She finally had a look and then bought it out, I went and tried it on the car and yes, it is the WRONG colour. One of the sales guys came out with me and had a look, bringing the colour chart thing out the showroom and agreed with me.

So anyway, I didn't buy it and the sales guy said he would find out today and give me a call today if he could sort something. He hasn't called. So I'm going to wait until next Wednesday and then I'll just get one from paints 4 u I think. Useless bloody Renault. Do you think it might be worth getting on to Renault UK about this, as it obviously needs sorting out?

NNJ? You can check the code on the drivers door shut panel thing! Lol! The other ultra red is NNC. The guy from Renault Wolverhampton still hasn't got back to me, so paints 4 u will probably be having my money! Even though they charge £5 more than Renaut do! :-o

All in the accent mate. Try saying it a French accent. Makes sense. Trust. Lol!

the renault one has a buffer on the top of the pen

apply the paint really thick

20 mins to dry then wet the buffer and rub down.

i normally dont bother with that and just apply thinly and build it up but the renault pen works really well.

honestly all the stone chips i touched up cant be seen now. i polished the car last week and couldnt see any of them. really good. maybe the red is just an easy paint to touch up as normally they stand out

I used that buffer thing on my Mercury mk2 Clio and I thought it was a complete waste of time unless you were extremely liberal with the paint! Not sure what the paints 4u comes with, will wait and see when it gets here. Then I'll get painting. I think I will tackle the line chip that some idiot did before I had the car on the back edge of the bonnet with the wiper arm. Bloody fools. Then a couple of small stone chips out the line of sight to get to grips with it.

I would say so. NNF from paints4u was a good match when I bought it a few years ago.
