Clio buying guide help? Thanks

Hi, I no this isn't a Clio RS question, but this forum is really helpful and I thought IDE ask.

It's my brother in law, he is looking for a run around, what kind of things should He be looking for on a 2001 Clio 1.2 with 99k on it?

He is only needing it to run to Aberdeen and back during his work!

Leaking sunroof, rust on front lip of the bonnet, ball joints and the obvious belt change. About all I can think of right now, will add to the list when I think of others!

Edit: the windscreen washer pump tends to fail - make sure the front/work independently of each other

How far is it to Aberdeen though? You don't make it clear if its 2 miles or 2,000!

be better off with a dci with that mileage!

Long way! Agree with the dci comment, don't know what goes wrong with them though!

dci - regular service/oil changes

egr valves can fail

cambelt change

if looked after give long service life and 60mpg!!!

I certainly wouldn't want a 1.2 Clio to do 132 miles a day in! I'd be looking for a barge of some sort, passat, octavia, 3/5 series. Anything to make the journey less painful!

I did 900 miles at the weekend in a 1.4 Peugeot 207 - Never again!
