Climate controls - digital

Hey all, I’ve noticed quite a few Clios with the attached climate buttons, I have the non-digital controls (pretty sure my son has the same controls on his Fisher Price peddle car) what’s the reason behind this and has anyone changed over? Cheers! IMG_5720.jpeg

I have reviewed the process and gathered all the necessary components. The airbox behind the dashboard requires motors, a sub loom, and a small hole to be sealed unless you opt to replace the airbox, which involves disconnecting the air conditioning pipes and dealing with water inside the dashboard. Additionally, you would need a different center console fascia with digital controls. Furthermore, a solar sensor is located on top of the dashboard behind the radio display cap, positioned at the center towards the windscreen air vents.

In addition, you would require a roof loom with a temperature sensor integrated into the rearview mirror, which also supports auto lights and wipers. This setup necessitates a windscreen replacement to mount everything. Finally, the car's computers must be updated to recognize the new systems, assuming your model is not a Cup and the loom connectors are present.

From my experience with both fitted systems, the manual climate control offers more control, as the automatic system tends to overreact, often requiring manual adjustment of fan speeds. The climate system in the 172 model seemed superior.

A significant problem is sourcing a complete kit, as sellers typically do not offer one. You may need to locate an unstripped vehicle and extract the parts yourself. The climate upgrade was originally a £150 option, which also included auto headlights and wipers, making it a missed opportunity not to order it with a new car. Given that your vehicle appears original, it would be wise to preserve its authenticity. Consider carefully before making changes, and if you decide to alter interior trims, purchase used ones for customization while keeping the originals intact. As parts for these vehicles are rapidly becoming unavailable, maintaining the car in its current state could allow you to enjoy it for several years without significant depreciation in value.
