My week started with a text from Mr. Fernandez (he of Cazan Racing fame)...
"Alright Fella, just wondering if you are still able to help me with detailing the car for Autosport... I've kind of left it a bit late."
Not one for being dramatic, I can assure you we had left it "a bit late". We had one day (and one that could start at 9.30am, and had to be finished by 4:30pm) to get the car in ship shape to go on the Performance French Car stand at Autosport International this week!
So a plan was laid and we cracked on with ordering the supplies we would need for the job. Angel had asked me to check out some of the Kleers products he had for sale on his site and to recommend anything I though he should pick up to both prep the car now and to take down to the NEC for last minute touch ups. I suggested he pick up the 'Large Detailers Kit' as it contained most of the things we would need for the prep, some stuff for the show, and some stuff I just wanted to try for myself . Angel got on to his suppliers and received his kit next day (no small feat considering it was New Years week!). I got on to CleanYourCar and ordered some more Menzerna pads for my DA and some other bits and bobs I had been planning on replacing anyway (despite ordering on Saturday and selecting a next day delivery, my parts turned up on Friday - Just in time!).
Angel had agreed that we would try to turn up with a clean car on the day to save as much time as possible. Now, I'm sure Mr.F won't mind me saying here, that his idea of 'clean' and mine differ quite significantly! . The car had been treated to the eastern European special the day before, but unfortunately this had very little impact on the King of Anti-Detailing's car.
Given the amount of time we had, I didn't get too many pics as priority number 1 was getting finished! So you'll have to forgive the lack of decent before shots.
We started with a full car wash (teaching Angel the two bucket method) using Kleers 'The Car Shampoo'.

This went on well and smelt nice (always a must for car shampoo) and we managed to get the car looking a bit better.
But unfortunately we were going have to crack out the hard stuff to tackle the HUGE amounts of contamination in the paintwork. We think is as a result of the race spec pads Angel is keen on using on the car (and is no doubt not helped by not being decontaminated properly at the local hand car wash). I've genuinely never come across so much contamination - it was everywhere!

After a rinse we then decided to give the Kleers Tar Remover a go. Again this worked brilliantly and took off the spots no problem. Normally this would be applied to a cloth then dabbed on, that wasn't going to cut it on some panels (there were just so many specs!) so we had to spay directly on to cover the whole panel! (no pics of this)
It then started to roughly resemble a Clio (wheels had been left)...
