Can't remove airbag!! HELP

How the heck do you get it off?!!

I'm trying to investigate why my horn isn't working, I know the steering wheel has been replaced by the previous owner due to the usual melting problem so I'm guessing he hasn't connected it back up.
I've already checked fuse.

So I'm trying to get the airbag off, I've turned steering wheel upside down, disconnected battery, pulled out the airbag on both sides where horn symbol is and pushed a long 6mm T Allen key through the hole at the back trying to feel for a spring of some sort...

but I can't find anything of resistance an I can push the Allen key right through to the plastic that covers the airbag.

tried pulling on it but all I'm achieving I bending the plastic.

could there be something the previous owner has messed up behind the airbag that's stopping me been able to unlatch it?

its really awkward to do it....

you have to feel for the metal spring/clip to push up against - I used the end of a 1/4 drive t-bar to do mine!

Well I've given up on it

gonna go down the route of locating the actual horn and hoping there's something obviously wrong with it at that end
