Well the grey flagship clio is a little way off I couldn’t hack not having a car to hit the track with the boys.

This little gem popped up about 2 weeks ago at a price I couldn’t say no to.

So early Sunday morning I popped the trailer on the truck and headed from South Wales to Durham.

The car is a 65k car which has been sat in storage for a few years, the car came with a mountain of paper work and even all the original receipts and all the Renault sport hand books.

Soon as I got the car back we began to strip it ready to give it a once over

After a good wash all over it came back in and I started to replace all brake lines from front to back

Well after getting the car on the ramp I just wasn’t happy with the underside.
We managed to get the car stripped to bare bones tonight and start cleaning the underside and treating the surface rust.

Hopefully tomorrow evening we will get it finished off ready to raptor coat it.

Managed to get it cleaned and started painting.

The motor factors told me 3 Tins would be plenty [emoji102] I managed to get a lot of the bay and the 4 arches done before we ran out of paint.

Will have to see if they have any more tomorrow to finish.

Got more paint this morning and finished up looks 100 times better.

Soaked all the bungs and clips etc so they are fresh going back on.

Started to put a few bits back on but have a couple more hoses to make for the brakes and then need to get the fuel hoses made up.

Managed to get a little bit done yesterday
Got all the fuel tank back in (added a DW200 fuel pump into the tank and a return line)

Got the rear beam fitted up with some super pro bushes

All the brake lines are now made and on i wasn’t 100% happy with the oem clips so drew something up and got them on print currently.

In the bay we got the subframe on with the arb which we had powder coated red adding a bit of colour to the bay I decided to go with the powerflex arb bushes.

As we can make all braided hoses in house we changed the routing of our ABS keep kit slightly and made all new lines replacing every one on the car.

The engine was looking abit sorry for its self with the usual cam cover leak and sump gasket leak, the plan for the engine is to just fit a set of ARP rod bolts, new gaskets and a general tidy up nothing crazy.

Il he heading down later to finish the final coat of paint on the block and get on with a few smaller jobs while we wait on a few bits to arrive.

Not much to update as the workshop is crazy busy this month but I got all parts back from aqua blasting this makes them so much fresher and should keep them clean for a few more years.

0d593e2e5879e68c4e0210c1b338c539.jpg

Got the Renault badge, door handles and a few small bits painted gloss black as the silver ones were pretty work and looked old and tatty
ab477c67d82b1401c04bd01792306098.jpg

Inside is almost complete bar the cage, seats and steering wheel all on order. The headliner was re trimmed in alcantara and I painted all the trims in black plastic texture coat and makes a huge difference to the inside.

One of my biggest pet hates is heat shields with massive holes from worn out clips so got a new full set now to go on

Should get the suspension components built up tomorrow and ready to go on going for super pro bushes on the rear beam and front arms.

Will use powerflex for the engine mounts and ARB.

Loving all these really clean parts, this is coming from someone who at best can just scrub his hubs with a bit of wheel cleaner and gets eyes full of spiders and dirt when working on the car!.

I fitted the superpro caster bushes on the front of mine, i'm debating on fitting the rear beam bushes now, do you think they make a good difference? I need to send the car for a geo setup and debating whether to do that first.

Was also curious as to the reason to stick to standard front subframe and braces etc rather than change to cup racer when doing so much else, I realise this setup will actually reflect most peoples rather than using cup racer parts, just interested in the reasons behind the choices given you probably have more options than us dirty mortals!.

We sell a lot of the super pro stuff and have great feedback. We haven’t tired them first hand on any of our cars so thought we would give them a go to give honest feedback.

This is a nice clubsport spec that we weren’t planning on going soo deep on haha.

We have a full blown race car build that we are mid build that’s full race car spec check that out for more race car content. Il get that thread updated soon.

So this evening I managed to go from a bare block and head to a fully built engine ready to drop in the car pretty much.

First up was to fit a full genuine cambelt kit along with a new dephaser pulley the belts had been done 2 years ago but decided to change them to be on the safe side.
6ab7f9332753c587ea35830bf658efbd.jpg

While the belts were off I pulled the cam cover off and cleaned, resealed it and fitted one of our cam cover socket bolt kits.

We have got a pure motorsport breather plate to go on with a take off so we can run catch can set up.

While all the sump was off and being aqua blasted with all the other engine bay bits I took the chance to fit some ARP rod bolts.

Iv changed most of the bolts to new socket cap bolts to give it a nice little freshen up. Here’s a few nice pics of how it’s standing atm.

I’m undecided on the gearbox on running a quaife or a gripper we have about 4/5 boxes to build over the next few days to get sent out so once i have some bench space il get the box built up for this and it can all go back in.

Although I like the new pro alloy intercooler and rad pack it’s a little too big and not mounted quite right for me so Iv made a start on mocking up the the new design. This should be a direct fit with no modification to the bumper and work on both the 197 and 200 front end.

9be6ba47ce271738233e80da42f930fc.jpg

More than likely we will run a Garret core that’s about 60mm shorter than the pro alloy but it’s 20mm wider and 15mm deeper according to Garret it’s good for over 450bhp.

Once the engine is in il get the end tank designs made up and we can send it off to be made.

Can't wait for the complete build

Did you remove all the plastics from the inner side of the front bumper?

It will be great to see a custom radiator / intercooler build that will aid in heat management for Megalios too. I'm considering to mock one for mine, however i'll test AIRTEC Megalio's radiator (dual fan).

What's the core size you are planning for?
