I was pretty hyped for the A290 as thought they would be making a classy hot hatch, basically the refinement of an A110 with the convenience of a hatchback, something I would go electric for. The A290 styling is a bit too toy racer for me and agree that new Renault 5 looks nicer.

After Renaultsport rebranded as Alpine we will only see Alpine editions of Renaults or pure Alpines now. I'm ready to move on from the 197 after 12 years and 100k behind the wheel, hopefully Alpine can fill that void someday for a reasonably priced beautiful drivers car.

According to somebody in the French forum the price range will be between 40.000 to 42.000 Euros.

That Alpine blue I just wish they were using the Clio platform rather than the R5. The rear end of the new Alpine trimmed Clio is really nice.
