ADO8 v AD08R difference?

hi, sorry if this has been done already but i can't find much on the internet for some reason. what the actually difference between these two tyres bar a £10 increase for the AD08R?

thanks james

As far as I've read it's the compound. The AD08R uses some kind of rubber derived from Unicorn spunk that only Yokohama have access to.

Hi James, from what I've read the Rs contain silica which helps in the wet (allegedly) and more carbon for better grip in the dry. Also they are supposed to last longer, better wear rate apparently due to some new polymers. All that in theory of course.

Hi, I have some experience with the AD08 but not the new AD08R.

However given that the new AD08R are being marketed by Yokahama as being a more track orientated tyre (somewhere between the existing AD08 & Advan A050) thus i would expect them to be more sticky but to wear quicker. You simply don't get a softer/stickier compound without some compromise in wear rates.

Definitely a tyre i intend to try sometime in the near future though.

The R's do seem to be ready to go when giving it some :thumbsup:the old did need to get a bit of heat in them and IMO the R's will last longer than the old as i have done a fair few run outs and still around 5-6mm tread left.As the lads have said they have a magic silica carbon orange compound:wink:
