-8 car won't move

Just a quick question as its going into the specialists tomorrow
Finished work at half five in the morning set the car going till she warmed up and all the ice had melted, started to reverse and it was like the hand brake was still on!!!

Any advise or will my bill be big tomorrow lol

Same as mine earlier in the week just the handbrake freezing, struggled getting it out the drive but after a little drive seemed fine and rolling free.

While its cold I'm now trying to leave it in gear with out the handbrake on where possible.

Had the same issue. Fitted new handbrake cables and serviced the rear calipers and its not been stuck since

Like Foxspeed has said mate, they need to be stripped and cleaned preferably once a year (or more if your like) to keep them working as they should. This is what your problem will be, although some people do say that after having this problem it can knacker their handbrake cable too. Once your brakes have freed up, you'll know if your cables knackered as your handle will pull right up!

Check out the How To section for a really easy guide on how to do it.

I would have ago my self but dint have the tools tbh lol so will let the specialist know tomorrow, I think the cable has had it tho as the hand brake is very loose

I stripped and cleaned my rear brakes about a month ago but my handbrake still freezes on so I know it's the cables. It's a pain in the arse when I forget to leave it in gear instead of on the handbrake and it's frozen on in the morning.

I haven't had this problem for a few years now. You just need to keep on top of the brake servicing

having all 4 corners of my breaking system stripped and cleaned in a couple of weeks, been quoted 4 hours labour but that includes changing the engine and gearbox oil as well

my breaks aren't binding and the hand brake hasn't frozen on yet, although it does stick a touch when wet until the car moves, the brakes just don't feel 100% so hopping the strip down will sort it,the fluid is only a year old but i think i'll have that changed as well
