Big spec 200 Cup *FOR SALE*

Temps were perfect at Donnington yesterday
Try this calculator you might get away with a smaller air filter or T it off into two smaller filters using the space in front of the alternator maybe blocking that space might help force more air through the radiator and pulling the rubber seal might give better heat draw from the engine bay.

Actually removed the whole scuttle!

Just wasn't meant to be tho, after about 15 laps (coolant temps were perfect, around 85-90. Intake temps weren't too bad until the water/meth tank emptied.
It's been breathing heavily since Blyton anyway but thought it would survive another day! Blew the dipstick out, oil everywhere. Cleaned it up and decided to carry on and try to get a few more sessions in, Emptying the breather every 8 laps and topping up then it really started to get bad so game over. Time to get the new engine in!DC0006DD-540E-4615-A1FE-CD64EF8A34BE.jpeg3B93F941-B38A-4BC1-B518-8AE9B86C7FE1.jpeg

Funny! I've been following this build thread for a year or so now. Actually reading it and not posting much about it. But this is actually my friends old car and I've only just seen the reg plate, It was a good solid car this when he sold it, was a very clean example assuming you're the second owner after he sold it in around 2018, It was being tracked a lot at Oulton Park, the previous owner to you was there pretty much every time I was there or called in.
Will be sending him a link to this thread.

Ah awesome! I think I was the 4th owner from memory. I bought it from Wigan! Had still only done circa 60k and yes was solid!

After a chat with Opie oil man he advised on the following oils. And a friend conveniently came round with his new pure manifold which was just a work of art in every way and obviously no comparison to the Toyo I was going to re fit so that got wrapped and his got replaced!!!

I've had exhausts ceramic coated in the past and apart from obviously protecting them a little I really dont think theres much difference temp wise so tend to stick to wrapping really. A little time consuming but not bad to do overall after soaking it in a bucket of water. You can almost touch the manifold after a drive and I love the look and colour!

Built the engine up and swapped it over a weekend when I could borrow a ramp. Cranked it over with the plugs out to get oil pressure up, then first start! Didn't even turn over once and it fired up  Ran it up to temp varying the revs on some cheap 10/40s dropped it and refilled with some running in oil which I ran it on for 50 miles or so giving it a little to bed the rings in then changed it again for some 10/50s. I've got the oil temp gauge working now also.

Fitted the smaller 105mm pulley bigger 830cc injectors and went to efi for mapping.
It wouldn't make over 10psi / 290hp which was obviously disappointing but came away with it safe to drive anyway and still went pretty well! Was planning on just getting the next few track days out of the way then send the charger off for a check over but curiosity got the better of me as it should of seen an easy 350 bhp really!! Whipped the charger off last weekend and found the same damage has occurred as last time when it had to be repaired! The intercooler was clear last time but this time its f'ed . . . a load of the ally fins have detached inside. Badly made cooler with a cheap chinese core most probably but at least they didn't make through to the engine!
Anyway now I've got an engine to take it and already have the bracket so just going to stick the c38-81 on and have a new cooler made with a proper bmr core.

Now this is my favourite update by far but totally unexpected by both me and my wallet :tearsofjoy: A really nice chap that had been building a mega spec 197 with a lot of brand new parts decided to call it a day and as these parts are as rare as hens teeth and so hard to find so had to go for it!
Nearly complete cup racer wide track kit -
EE brackets
Extended drive shafts
Extended anti rotation links
Standard steering arms, was going to sleeve the steering arms to lengthen them but after a trip to a local parts shop Renault espace are the same fitment just 30mm longer! Perfect!!
Cup racer suspension, as new re-built fronts at Rentune and the rears have been re-built at bilstein with brand new springs.
Rensport top mounts, just missing the bearings which I've ordered from Pure with the mounting plates.
The only thing left really was the bump steer kit so after a few emails to r sport that's on order and due in a few weeks, it only consists of a few spacers and hardware to move the rack up and the track rods down but going lower with the ride height again it's worth while doing while its apart.
Also finally fitted the Pure bearings in my spare front arms ready for the big swap over!!!

Good read! Nice to see skme engine building been done properly on these with a lovely tidy engine bay. Sad to see the damage to the charger but look forward to seeing what you do with it from here!

Man I am so envious of the cup racer suspension setup. If you ever change your mind about fitting it or decide it's not for you give me a shout.

Where did you source it if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you mate, and yes the cooler was the last thing I expected to of failed tbh, I've been working on 'performance' cars for many years now and have never seen a core fail like this before! Even tho the C38 is capable of much more I don't want want / need more than 350-370bhp with it being a track day - fun day car. It will just make a bit more torque than the C30. I think it's just over the limit of the chassis as it is. A cage is definite must next!

Oh it's definitely getting fitted unfortunately buddy, sorry! Had bike engined kit cars before this and swore when I bought the clio it would be a cheap toy but these things just escalate don't they and so far maybe not quite as quick it's so much more fun than any of the others! Depending on what you want to spend Id seriously consider buying a genuine cup racer, it'll be cheaper :tearsofjoy:
I got lucky and bought them from a chap privately, but if you contact APMotorsport, Rentune, RSport (they can still get most cup racer parts new) or Pure I'm sure they'll be able to source for you  There were some for sale on here a while back?

Glad to see you back with your build.

mind asking what was the intake temperature you were having with the previous intercooler?. Also, is the new intake manifold powder coated or that's just paint job?

Few updates to add. The bump steer parts from R-Sport landed so dropped the subframe and fitted them along with the widetrack kit and lower arms with the pure bearings.
All pretty straight forward, had to drill the hubs out slightly to accommodate the nuts for the track rod ends and cut / re-foam about 15mm off the plastic cup that seals the rack to the body with raising the rack, the shafts etc were all a perfect fit so all good!
Waiting on the weld on rings for the Rentune top mounts so couldn't fit the front Bilsteins just yet. Stuck the tracking gauges on to adjust the front track and camber and the camber with the new ee brackets was over 6 degrees  just set the front parallel for now until I raise the ride height this weekend. Interested to see the difference in caster as the wheels nearly touching the bumper!!

Just about to embark on the same journey - I'm about a month or 2 and a few parts behind you. Picked up my cup racer suspension yesterday along with the thicker arb. Driveshafts should be a week or 2, and waiting on news about the EE brackets and bump steer kit. I'll probably sleeve a set of anti-rotation links myself.

Like you I contacted Pure today about the weld on strut rings to be told they are a fair few weeks away from making a new batch. Arggghh. Looks like I'll spend the time putting the bearings in the front wishbones (replacing black series polybushes) and the bearing kit in the rear beam.

How have the Espace track rods worked out? Mentioned this to Rich at Rentune and he hadn't heard of this before, instead recommended extending the Clio ones.
