197 - Check ESP / Check ABS

Hi guys, just driving along today to the shop and had both the ABS and traction control lights come on and also the messages on the speedo screen saying check ESP AND Check ABS, its had new brake disks all round about a year ago so the only thing i can think of is theres crap on the abs rings on the back maybe with all the bad weather? Might get the wheels off and check them.

Any other advice would be grateful, if i cant see anything i suppose i’ll have to get it plugged in somewhere, bought a cheap reader off amazon and its crap

Also if i turn it off then back on the lights go off, then after driving for about 500yrds they come back on with the messages

Read this, it'll most likely be rear ABS plate corroded and taken the ABS ring

Greetings every one, Ive recently been notified of the ABS / ESP sensor error on the dash warning. Is this a job that can be easily worked, when I was cleaning the wheel arches earlier in the year, I noticed some corrosion around the back of the rear disks, this is where the ABS ring is...

Thanks for that, hoping its not a case of having to replace the rear disks again. Far too cold for outside tasks, I'll take it to the garage

You can buy the ABS ring from eBay if it did take it with it (they normally do).

Many thanks for your comments, got the parts and took it to a garage, far too bloody cold to be outside [emoji23] he showed me the old one and had a huge hole in it. Got both sides to be on the safe side.

I'm glad it helped out, yep mine was the same on both sides! I had to change both ABS rings it had killed them.
Yep too cold to work on cars, I got an alternator to change but i'm putting it off haha.
