I tried the cable tie and didn’t make any difference. I find leaving the car running for a minute or 2 before driving and running on Vpower helps minimise it

First decent pic of the 197 since the knackered old wheels have been refreshed.

Took my car in to RS Four Ashes today, it was the nearside swivel joint that had play in it, and this seems to have cured the wondering problem I had at speed.

I’ve got the same problem with turning right, when I had the springs fitted the garage noted the bottom swivel bearings had play, I’ve since had a creaking from one side. I’m getting it looked at Friday I’ll let you know if they cure the problem

Hi Guys, just joined up although got my 197 about 10 months ago. It was a little bit rough and needed a fair bit of tlc under the bonnet. Love driving it though. Wheels are in desperate need of a refurb hopefully be done soon. Cheers Andy

I think mine had a few years of abuse and not much in the way of servicing etc so is hopefully an extreme example, I’d imagine a better looked after one would hopefully be a lot better

Hi, this is my first post on here, thought I’d chip in on the buying a cheap one. Bought my 197 November last year as a “cheap” toy. However didn’t really do all the right research. Thought the cam belt was fine going by mileage stupidly didn’t think about age and hadn’t been done for 7 years...
