    Polishing

I understand your logic, but somehow (and i wish i knew how!) clay doesn't scratch the paintwork at all. As long as the car is thoroughly cleaned then rinsed before the claying begins and you keep folding the bar then you can't really go wrong.

    I hate Autoglym!

Calm your jets matey! Clearly you are doing something wrong if the majority of the people who use Autoglym products are not having similar issues when they follow the instructions to the letter. Autoglym have got some great products. SRP is excellent, EGP is a product I haven't used in a while...

    Polish on the plastic :(

Another vote for a rubber here. Really easy to remove even the heaviest of polish staining. I've not tried the peanut butter or vegetable oil method but heard good things over on DW.

    Panic attack

Suffered from panic attacks for years mate and it's greatly affected my ability to drive my beloved 197 as I've developed a slight driving phobia. This may sound odd but do you suffer from hay fever at all? I found that my chest gets alot tighter during the summer months if I don't take a...

    Which Dodo Wax For RB?

Collinite. Cheap, very long lasting, easy to use and readily available. Wax makes no (after numerous personal tests) difference to the outcome other than protection and water beading. No point paying top dollar for something which won't be able to outlast a £20 tin of Collinite. I would love...

    cleaning inside of alloy

Try Autosmart Tardis (at least I think it's still called that), clay them or there's also a product called iron x which looks to be very good indeed and seems to be alloy friendly too.

    Wax Test

Yeah I am going to dispute it... as I used to be a pro-detailer myself so we are/were in the same boat. I've used plenty of waxes/sealants over the years from Collinite to Zymol and only recently when I tested 5 different waxes on a fully corrected bonnet of a car did it occur to me that the...

    Wax Test

Can you direct me towards the part that says waxes look different? Edit - Also some photos to prove me wrong. I would love this to be the case but there's yet to be any evidence to support that there is any visible difference.

    Wax Test

Unfortunately it is... but feel free to do a wax test and prove me wrong with some photos.

    Wax Test

Best thing to do is get someone to do the test on you and see if you can see any difference. I used to detail professionally and have tried massive amounts of waxes, always kidding myself that there was a visible difference in them all - sadly there ain't. Do the test and come to your own...

    Wax Test

Agreed, because it's protecting the paint. When that protection fails then the polishing work is now susceptible to the elements, washing technique etc. I used to buy into the whole "which wax gives the best gloss" lark before I realised that it simply isn't true.

    Wax Test

So you are honestly telling me if I fully corrected a panel and applied a variety of different waxes of your choice then you would be able to tell the difference by just looking?

    Wax Test

Wax makes zero difference to the visible outcome of a dry car. It beads water and it protects, nothing more and nothing less. Anyone that tries to say that they can see any difference from wax to wax is barmy.

How do you mean "polish in" swirls? I'm confuzzled.

    Machine polishing

Detailingworld is a great place to get informed on the do's and don'ts of machine polishing. The DaveKG guides are great and they are a definite "must read" if you fancy giving it all a go. One thing I've noticed though during my time at DW is that there are alot of people, especially a couple...

    Detailing Dilema HELP

If you fancy a wee project then give spraying it a go, if not then just get onto Renault and demand a new one. Don't mention that you inflicted this yourself via a rotary - just tell them that it has worn away over time and is starting to be more noticeable. In future be more careful with a...

    Whats yours called?

Mine is called Percy. Not really sure how it came about but I've always just called my cars by that name. I'm fairly sure I saw someone here that had a reg plate that said Percy on it... hilarious!

    best for white?

Supernatural in my opinion is well and truly over priced and most definitely doesn't live up to it's claims of durability. For white I would be tempted to go for the Jeffs Acrylic Kit from Polished Bliss - truly an astonishing product. At the end of the day though just keep trying products...

    wax

Bit difficult to say it's not the best without trying it. All containers sold out according to Zymol, free refills for life so if it out performs the likes of Zymol Vintage, Royale etc then it will be a very cost effective method for a high end pro detailer. There's method in madness if...
