Where are you based Peter?
It is difficult to get right, but not impossible. I have used Repair & Restore in Goole to repair and spray my rear bumper and they did a fantastic job. Unfortunately I will be using them again soon.
I started of running mintex M1155 for track days and they were ok for the price, but not in the same league as ds1.11 which I found very good. A downside that is probably the same for all performance pads is that they do give quite a lot of dust off which eats into the alloys if you don't wash...
Do you like the current ride? I went from cup suspension to cup dampers and H&R springs and the ride is a bit crashy and fairly stiff. It is not good on rough b roads, but great on track.
Standard discs are perfectly ok for track days. Pads are mainly dependent on your budget. The ds2500 are ok, but at the lower end performance wise (although better than mintex m1144 and standard pads). Also consider whether you can tolerate a bit of squeel and bad brake dust build up if you are...
That's a cracking deal. I just got a golf r dsg estate on lease for £280 a month for two years and 10,000 miles a year.
Fantastic car and plenty of power.
I've just got a Golf R personal lease @ £280 a month 10,000 miles a year for two years. At the end you just give the keys back.
Edit: this is for an estate in red with dsg.
I've not tried them, but they do look interesting for the price. Can you post up a little review after the track day? What other track day tyres have you run to compare these too?
I'm not one for lows / stance, but I had to replace the front springs on mine days before heading out to Spa. I went for H&R as the price was good and to be honest the small drop does make the car look better. Ride on the other hand is a bit crasher on rough roads.
