Replacement gearbox shouldn't be a concern, the gearboxes are chocolate so doesn't take much abuse to need replacement. FYI Cambelt at a dealer is £700+.

Just go to a local upholsterer like Arran did. I had something similar, was quoted £50 all in.

Drive channel is excellent. Given that most K-Series over here like to pop head gaskets with 115HP, it is a wonder they haven't gone for a forced K20 or similar.

The more common ball joint to go is the middle / lower upper one. It may be that it has failed since the other was diagnosed back in August. You will note from Karl's post that he also suggests this is the more common.

You sure they have replaced the right ball joint? There are three per side. Also it may be sensible to have them show you on a parts diagram exactly what they have replaced and what needs to be replaced.

The hub will have refused to come apart so needs to be replaced in order to reassemble the car. Had the ball joint not needed doing the hub would have been fine, but if the hub won't come away from the part being replaced then it needs replacing. These are bloody expensive cars when stuff like...
