    Bottom ball joint?

Took it to the garage this morning, they decided they don't have capacity today. He drove it though, said he felt it pulling to the left, especially under braking. He looked at the car and said he thinks it's tyres.

    Bottom ball joint?

I've got a bad feeling it's the pivot hubs. I run a fair old whack of negative camber and it likes to tram a little at the best of times. The car is definitely become progressively more nervous feeling. Crossing white lines on the motorway even produces a little wiggle now. Managed to book it...

    Bottom ball joint?

I don't think so. It felt like play, I'll double check again. I've got a creak at low speed parking manoeuvres also.

    Bottom ball joint?

Hi, Developed a wondering car when letting off throttle on the dual carriageway. I jacked the car up and I have a fair bit of play with my hands at quarter to three and some but less play with my hands at half twelve. Is that bottom ball joint play? Thanks

Cold Start - Diesel Sounding Knock

Hi, Prepping the Clio for Spa later this month. I've noticed on Cold Startup the engine has a kinda diesel sounding knock which seems to be near the top of the engine. When the engine is up to temp it's gone and instead, you can hear the injectors ticking. Is this likely to be piston slap...

I'm interested. But would require European postage.

    Engine fault.

I'm 99% certain that it's not in the correct position. The only way to be sure is to replace the camshaft. But the ECU is happy with what's it's now got to work with and so it's given me VVT back. Which is just fine. I know exactly what you're saying though. But I don't think there's anything...

    Engine fault.

What I mean by trigger wheel is the little piece of metal with Tabs that the cam position sensor reads. I had a theory as to how it had gone wrong and it seems I'm right. To fix it, this weekend I took off the inlet manifold, removed the cam position sensor and used a little 'bar' to turn...

    Engine fault.

Hi All, Just thought that I would update this just in case anyone else has the same problem in the future. I have now fixed the car (With somewhat of a bodge for now) and no longer have the error codes from the ECU. Basically. When my dephaser was worn, pre cambelt change, it would sometimes...

    Engine rotation.

This is probably a dumb sounding question but I just want to make sure, cam pulley side, what is the engine rotation, Clockwise or Anti-Clockwise? Cheers

    Engine fault.

Hi All, Back again. I'm going to share my failure here so others can learn. As said above, I've been struggling to track down this fault P0340 "Cam position sensor" Circuit A. (This was using a bluetooth OBD2 Scanner and the Torque app on android) To fix this fault I did the following...

Cheers matey. Top advice as always. Thanks.

    Engine fault.

Hi Fox. Yes, I'll trace the wires back later today. I cleared the codes from the ECU yesterday. The Dash lights have not come on yet (Used to come on instantly) but after a quick run the ECU stores the fault again, just not throwing the dash lights on this time. So, something has changed.

    Engine fault.

Well, I'm stumped. This weekend we re-timed the engine, and if I don't say so myself we got it almost perfect in regards of cam timing. (I've got a video to show how the tool slips nicely in and out of the cam notches after being rotated three times) Engine run's much smoother with the new...

    Engine fault.

Hi All, Stupid question time. I'm re-doing the timing tonight after work at a friends garage. Got the proper Renault tools and I'm confident this time will be a lot easier. Just looking for advice on the belt. I'm overly paranoid and I'm wondering if the belt will be fine with being taken...

    Cambelt/Checking for Oil Leak?

I recently did my cambelt and I noticed the same. The front of my engine was saturated with oil and the undertray was covered. I cleaned the whole lot with a few can's or carb clean and I've run it since. The only leak I've got is a bolt on the rocker cover. The rest of the oil was overflow...

    Engine fault.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do. Get the timing nailed then see where we're at. I'm fairly confident going at the timing second time around with the correct tools.

    Engine fault.

The kit I purchased had a tool for the pulleys too. It was basically pins that were supposed to lock the pulley's, rather than the gears on the Renault tool. The pins bent, which in turn bent the horse shoe.
