Labour/book time to do all steering balljoints?

To be fair, I think most well adjusted people only fix something that is broke so doing one side makes sense. As far as I can tell, the top and bottom balljoints seem worth doing at the same time but I’m not sure if there’s must extra work to do the inner one. I’ll keep looking.

Labour/book time to do all steering balljoints?

Maybe a better question would be, is it a crap load of work and should I focus on just the top/bottom balljoints, or perhaps even just the lower one on its own?

Labour/book time to do all steering balljoints?

how long should it take to all 3 BJ’s on both sides? I’m looking at this set: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/263640187505 If it’s really long I may reconsider my obsession to indiscriminately replace wear and tear parts focusing just on the bottom BJ...

    2 questions.

I don't know about the resistor, but this may help (suggests you also need a 100ohm one for the seat position sensor, whether standard or recaros) https://clio197.net/threads/fitting-bucket-seats-resistors.48899/#post-619219

Little bit of slop when pulling away...

Did the lower dogbone today. Used a febi part and could't see any difference between that and the OEM part except that it was in better condition. Totally fixed the lurch, so now I think the torque arm wasn't the 'fix' but it made things better. Feels like a normal car now, so if anyone else has...

RS200 Cambelt change, dephaser replacement yes or no?

My guess is the perceived impact on sales that the maintenance schedule had. Nothing is actually different except the guidance. You're right the intervals are shorter. Probably the guidance for the 197 is better, but that said when I bought my 10 year old 200 with 32k on, it had the original...

RS200 Cambelt change, dephaser replacement yes or no?

72k or 6 years I think, whichever comes first...

    Will these fit 200?

I think a lot of pads get a hard time because of old brake fluid or not properly bled lines too. Never tried Blue Stuff, but that's a decent appraisal above so once my DS2500's have finally gone (might be a while) maybe they're next for me. £115 on carparts4less btw. I've set fire to green...

    Will these fit 200?

Yellowstuff are decent imo. They don’t have the initial bite of a ferodo, but they are consistent, work well from cold and stand up to fade pretty well. Redstuff are good too. The greenstuff used to be full of horror stories but I think those are days long gone now, it’s just that they are...

How do I know which top mounts I have?

    Here’s a useful thread. https://clio197.net/threads/clio-200-suspension-dampers-shocks-springs-top-mounts-info.57754/

RS200 Cambelt change, dephaser replacement yes or no?

I did mine with my cambelt just for peace of mind. You only pay for the part so may as well. Did the waterpump too... so I guess that’s where I stop! :)

Little bit of slop when pulling away...

Soz this Q got lost in the noise. No, if anything it will do good for the parts that need to tolerate movement, such as the exhaust because it won't flex as much. Rubber bushes are there to pretty much isolate the engine from the cabin as much as they can get away with. I suppose it is possible...

Nice. That last bit of info about he pattern part is super helpful, cheers!

Little bit of slop when pulling away...

Haha, I have some anti rattle tape to use too. I bought a bunch of second skin for the resonant panels and some closed cell foam for the door skin and then I fitted a poly torque arm bush. Maybe a bit silly. It's not terrible, but at odds with what I'm trying to achieve. One Q though - which of...

Little bit of slop when pulling away...

I decided to order a genuine Renault part. Will fit and see how we get on - if it's significantly worse I'll consider replacing other mounts/bushes or going back to poly.

Little bit of slop when pulling away...

LOL I think I was bracing myself for worse, was pleasantly surprised, and now reality is setting in and I’m realising I’ve turned the shell into an engine sound resonator. I think I might try a new OEM part instead ans see how we get on seeing as it’s so easy to switch. I’m really...

Little bit of slop when pulling away...

Got my first rattles developing now. Some was stuff in the glove box, but another is something else in the dash. Maybe not a great idea if you’re not tolerant of increased noise. I’m gonna stick with it for a bit and see how we get on.

Little bit of slop when pulling away...

Bearable? Yeah definitely. It’s less vibration and more resonance that’ll you’ll notice. In slow stop start traffic it’s probably the most prominent. For the record, I get no rattling at all - just resonance and I’m also at 32k miles and 100% standard except for this.

Little bit of slop when pulling away...

Tempted to do the lower and g/box mounts now, although the vibrations haven't exactly got better yet. Probably worse, but only done about 200 miles.

Little bit of slop when pulling away...

Decided to buy and fit a poly bush. Totally fixed it. The old bush seemed OK but I can't believe that would be the OEM setup. I was worried about increased vibrations, which do exist but much less that I anticipated. It's less the feeling of vibrations and more the sound being communicated...
