Managed to get a bit more done today, helped a friend change the brake pads on their Transit, a job well done. Then gave the Clio a good wash, and got the gearbox oil changed. Pleased now that's done, it does definitely feel smoother. Wasn't a difficult job, took around an hour I guess, taking...

Aside from Renault Parts Direct and the Renault genuine part... has anyone tried any of the aftermarket alternatives for inner tie rods? I need to replace one of mine in the not too distant future and ideally would like to buy a pair. I am happy to replace them with genuine parts, however...

Ouch, I changed a timing belt on a Subaru that was at least 7+ years old and it looked brand new in comparison. EDIT: I got my timing belt changed at Engine Dynamics today, which was 5+ years old (it was overdue). I should've really asked them to keep hold of the old belt to compare against...

Timing belt, aux belt, water pump and dephaser changed at Engine Dynamics today. Great service, dropped it off early this morning and picked it up just after lunch.

Some more progress today, got the spark plugs all sorted, also changed the rear high level brake light bulb, it's W16W for reference. Old plugs looked OK, but good to have changed them for piece of mind. Timing belt tomorrow. Will need to get around to gearbox oil replacement, brake fluid...

I think the filler plug is plastic, shouldn't be a need to replace it, just important to check you can get it out before you drain the oil! You get the drain plug washer with the 2 litres of oil I linked to, and it's just an 8mm bit (same as the engine sump plug) to undo it.
