Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

Been a little while since the last update. After a 3 week holiday in Australia I came back full of enthusiasm to get a few more bits sorted on the car. This started with a new steering wheel to replace the rather worn second hand one I put on last year. Then with an impending Evo track evening...

Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

Another few jobs done today. Fresh oil and filter along with checking every nut and bolt underneath the car. Also got a few fresh shots of the interior as I have a new phone and wanted to try it out! Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk

Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

A very productive day. New brakes are on and I'm looking forward to trying out the new combination. To recap they are Genuine Cup Racer calipers fitted with PFC 08 pads which are again a genuine Cup Racer part. I have complemented them with some braided lines from Pro-line Motorsport. I flushed...

Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

I'll be honest, that's not something i had spotted so thank you for that. I know the calipers were shared between the X85 Cup car and the early X98 Cup's before they all went over to the PFC caliper. I believe the X98's run a bigger disc (330mm possibly?) so maybe there was a bit of extra...

Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

Another small job done tonight. I decided, along with some peer pressure, to re-do the seals on the new calipers before I put them on. This was mostly as they didn't have any dust covers on them, presumably the Cup Racer doesn't run them due to the amount of maintenance they would be given, but...

Looking forward to seeing progress on this car.

    Trackspec Clio 197

It was a lucky find when I went to purchase my seat off a current Clio Cup team. I asked about the fabric type but was advised the early ones were much better as they don't melt from the exhaust heat. The front one doesn't fit my 200 very well but the rear is spot on and I've never seen another...

Yes no problem. I will take it off and get them tomorrow evening. Sent from my VKY-L09 using Tapatalk

    Trackspec Clio 197

Sounds like a good plan. If you want any help for measuring up a bar then just let me know as I run one of the early mk3 cup racer tow eyes on the rear. Sent from my VKY-L09 using Tapatalk

Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

The only differences i can see so far is the etched RenaultSport logo on the outside face under the Brembo sticker and the fact they don't seem to come fitted with dust seals. Although that second point may be down to when/how they were last rebuilt. The main reason for getting them was the pads...

    197 Cup F4RT track car

From what i've seen the SW Motorsport cages are a good option. Certainly something i would have considered if they were available this time last year before i bought my Safety Devices. As for the new seat, that's out of this world!

Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

Car is now back together after what feels like forever. I was amazed when I pressed the start button and it fired straight up given how long and cold it has been since it was last started. To sum up the bits that have been done. No more squeaking from the lower ball joints which was nice...

    Whiteline Springs?

Does it feel like the car is bouncing from one end of the car in particular? I've been running H&R's on my cup packed 200 for the last 3 years (30mm front/40mm rear)and the only time i ever thought the car was 'bouncy' was when on back roads with undulations in the road whilst through a corner...

Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

More progress, finally getting towards being done! New lower joints are in the outer hubs. Just need to get the old bolts out of the EE brackets now. Has anyone ever replaced just the rubber dust boot on the upper ball joints? I managed to split them whilst splitting the hubs and need to refresh...

Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

Some progress eventually. After having the manifold flexis changed over the festive period I eventually had the chance to re-fit it. Also managed to get the subframe on then tackle the dodgy gearbox mounting pin. Finished off the day by fitting my inner door pull straps that I've had sitting...

    Trackspec Clio 197

I was worried enough with a single bar across the roof! It's by far the scariest job i've done yet.

    BTCC Clio Cup

I knew the Clio's were around that sort of figure but thought the mini's were cheaper. I obviously had the wrong impression. It's a shame though as without it being a proper 'support' series the Clio's will be a much lower profile now and can't see it being a feeder series quite as much.

Sideshowfreds Ultra Red 200 -- Fully Caged Track Toy

Been slowly doing bits as and when I can in preparation for fixing the flexis and lower ball joints. Managed to get the subframe off yesterday morning so hopefully the manifold will be done early in the new year. Sent from my VKY-L09 using Tapatalk

    BTCC Clio Cup

I'm sure i read a little while ago they had agreed another contract with TOCA to continue it for a few more years but i now cannot find the article. It's a shame it's going as i think it is the perfect support series for the package. Admittedly the Mini's are putting some incredible drivers...

    197 Cup F4RT track car

i do love the wrap around seats but i think without a cage they look a bit odd. Car looks great though!
