It is but fuelling or cams will restrict it before the exhaust starts to be a problem. For exhaust I've welded a 3 inch v band on the end of my link pipe which is 3" then I'll be able to get the rest exhaust system to 3" fairly easily in the future

UPDATE: With the engine out it became apparent that the subframes and front chassis member needed some attention. They were disgustingly dirty with caked on grease and dust, they had to have some attention. I also noticed that on the front chassis member there was rust starting to appear...

Have you seen the alloy radiators on amazon? says they hold more coolant and are thicker. The price of £150 makes me think twice though http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00TSBKGBA/?tag=clio197-21

Meg 225 rods tend to fail at 300 ft/ib. Meg 250 engines are stronger but like rocking horse poo. You can forge a 225 engine for the same price. Check my project thread out, currently installing my fully forged 225 engine.

UPDATE: After a few days hard graft practically doing all the work on my own, the engine is out! Wasn't too tricky, the hardest part was removing the drive shafts. For that I undone all the droplinks, took the calliper off and the brake line mounting bracket, undone the lower balljoint, track...

UPDATE: Little update today, got a lot done on the whole engine removal. Took the bumper,crash bar and lights off first, easy job, only takes 10 minutes. The next bit was a bit trickier, I had to drain the coolant and remove the radiator, as it always goes the coolant went everywhere and soaked...

Yeah very, its seemed like an age to get to this point, considering I bought the donor engine 18 months ago

UPDATE: I hope everyone had a great xmas. I spent mine largely rebuilding the gearbox :lol: Anyway the gearbox is done. On Monday I pressed on the last remaining fixed gears onto the output shaft. Simply got a thick piece of aluminium tube and placed it over a gear and gently applied pressure...

They are complicated as in there is a lot of parts. However the mechanism of a manual gearbox is pretty simple when you break it down to the base components.

Output shaft completed, all the gears and bearing was pressed on at work. A trial fitting of the shifter mechanism and it all works fine :) I'll get more photos later.

It's too hard to strip one, but you need to take your time and have the right tools. Thanks mate (:
