Steves Megane conversion build - She's finally running (VIDEO inside)

UPDATE: Not much happening on the car really in the last few months, havent even cleaned it since beginning of January, also just bought a house so funds are a bit tighter these days especially with house prices down south. The plan is though to get the car finnally mapped in April for my...

    F4rt timing belt guide

Tools just get genuine renault, about 150 from renault parts direct but you can easily sell on after. Belts I would just get the Renault kit, then you can't go wrong.

    F4rt timing belt guide

You can get the proper timing tools and cambelt kit (tensioners waterpump) from renault parts direct. Gates makes the belts but it won't come with a waterpump and that's worth doing while the cambelt is off

    F4rt timing belt guide

You've got to use all the tools specified including the cam pulley locking tool and the grooved locking tool. No point doing it with non gen tools either, if you do the timing WILL be out.

    Sean's 197T - RIP Albi :(

Remove the rubber seal on the scuttle panel and fit the megane radiator. My temps were high and it solved the problem instantly. Vents won't have much effect really, only for a cold air intake, trying to air cool the engine will make little difference, more difference improving the efficiency...

    Clutch "bite"

They do bite quite high I find, my paddle clutch is stupidly high. To test it, park up and put hand brake on, put the car in 1st and release the clutch if the revs drop and the car stalls then the clutch is fine. You can also put the car in a high gear and have the rpm at 2k ish while driving...

Steves Megane conversion build - She's finally running (VIDEO inside)

UPDATE: Ive always hated how messy and all over the place the Megane engine looks compared with the clio variant. The clio has nice vacuum line routing and an inlet which hides a lot of bits. The megane's vacuum lines on the right hand side go all over the place with poor routing, even in a...

Where's the cost go doing the meg conversion

I wouldn't take the engine apart if you don't know what you are doing, i.e checking the clearances on the mains. Also things like head bolts are are stretch bolts and can only be used once. I'd just do a good health check like comp check, leak down and check the bores with a scope. Taking it...

Steves Megane conversion build - She's finally running (VIDEO inside)

UPDATE: These are becoming monthly updates now it seems, sorry about that  Anyway some bits have actually been done to the car recently, first of was boxing in the fuel pump to reduce the noise. Popped down to Wicks and picked up some MDF and then got some thick sound deadening foam from...

    Ok i give in

My reason for over 350 is because it's a challenge to do that and more interesting. could put a stock engine in with my eyes closed. A lot of people I've known are like "Yeah 280/300 is plenty" then 6 months down the line they want more but aren't able as there engine is stock.

Where's the cost go doing the meg conversion

I didn't even pay that for my conversion and mines built to very high spec with no expense spared. Ktec are known for stupid prices

    Jason's R27 Team F1 Racing Blue

You would be able to tell from the water pump, this has data od manufacture on it. If it's like 2006 then I doubt the cambelt has been changed. You could also tell from if the depahser has been changed as this should be done with the cambelt change

    Jason's R27 Team F1 Racing Blue

Shame you've had problems. But I wouldn't want the engine repairing tbh, I'd be wanting the whole engine replaced, could be damage to pistons, wrist pins, rods etc also the valve guides will need to be replaced as well as seats recut. Easier to fit a second hand engine

Steves Megane conversion build - She's finally running (VIDEO inside)

UPDATE: Right first things first Ive been accepted for expo top 40. Kind of a shock as it was done on likes on there facebook page for at first "Top 20", you got the same people posting/sharing etc trying to get likes which is fair enough, I didnt bother which much of that and didn't get many...
