    Another gearbox oil thread

Try some Ford ATF in, it's not a big job to change. As I said I tried the alternatives, Redline etc, but in my case the NEW Renault oil feels best after a few miles. If I was 30 years younger I would of changed the oil yet again, but my old bones struggle in the cold and damp.

    Another gearbox oil thread

I have said this before, but it is just a theory of mine. The materials in the gearbox are sticking with the modern oils. I too have the above problems, and I find the NEW Renault gearbox oil is the best after a couple of thousand miles. My theory is age related, but we always used to use go...

    Need some help. Rear caliper

Fluid should run out with gravity with caliper still on the car. Yes wind the piston all the way in.

    Need some help. Rear caliper

You need to have the piston fully wound in. An air bubble forms behind the piston and you can't shift it, so you need the piston fully home. Also if you just open the bleed nipple and manually pump the fluid through, until it runs out under gravity. Then bleed it.

    Buckled wheel

Stick the wheel on the rear axle and find the buckle by spinning the wheel, usually the rim is bent in. Mark the low point, remove the wheel and hit it with a big hide mallet. Put the wheel back on and re check. You can also use a tape measure, to see how much it has moved when you hit it. I...

    Wheel Alignment with EPAS

The rear is adjustable, as is the front cross member, it the centre line is not correct. There are some basic rules 1. Depends on how fussy you are. 2. Depends if you can find someone who wants to do it. 3. You have the money and patience to get it done. Most cars are within manufactures...

brakes make a whale like noise???

Pads are tight in the carrier, strip clean (file the pad so it fits in freely) and a little cooper grease on the slider and the back of the pad, will fix it. Calipers are prone to corrosion and need TLC after a couple of years. I'm finding mine need doing at least twice a year.

    Possible new rs200 owner

That car does not have the cup pack on. Cup pack cars have RED calipers, sit lower and have a faster rack fitted. If you go to the Renault dealer they can print you off a sheet with what it left the factory with, but it does not look like a cup packed car.

    Gearbox/clutch woes...it's only day 3 of ownership :(

There is a jig for setting the linkage, if that is not set correctly there will be issues

    Gearbox/clutch woes...it's only day 3 of ownership :(

Clearance on modern clutches is minimal, typical dealer, wrong diagnosis. If the car selects gear with the engine off, it must be the bit between the engine and the gearbox. It may just be air in the clutch system as the Clutch will have plenty of meat on it. Or the springs on the clutch plate...

    Spare switch under drivers Recaro.

That switch is for the airbag. It basically fits on the seat and there is a bit on the runner that activates it. What it is for, is people who like to sit near the steering wheel, have the seat further forward, when the seat is closer to the steering wheel and you have an accident, it deploys...

    Gearbox/clutch woes...it's only day 3 of ownership :(

Hi and welcome. What your describing is normal, to an extent. It is most likely oil related. These boxes seem to be very sensitive to the oil, and a lot of us have to change gearbox oil on a fairly regular basis. As your car is 3 years old, I would suggest a trip to the dealer, where they will...

    Exhaust or Remap

Remap, sorry, but car already has a good sound track inside. Remap drives so much better, but an exhaust sounds better in the Macdonalds car park. You have already removed the centre box, just get it mapped.

Our tyres are 91 load index which is heavy load or XL, so you have the correct tyre.

Not going into gear upon startup

I have pinched this off an American website. As you are probably aware a modern ATF is simply a semi-synthetic gear oil with added and sometimes very specific formulated qualities Its prime role is to lubricate the drive gear set - its other roles are "circumstantial" in that they may and do...

Not going into gear upon startup

Echoing Foxspeed, here 1st is the gearbox oil, easy diy, there are loads of oils out there and what works for does not for the other. Renault changed the oil they use to help with the problem. I have tried oils from Opie, but the genuine Renault stuff suits my box more. Biggest improvement I...

    Simos top mounts?

It is the only way to get the locknut to tighten up, same when you are removing them. It saves ruining the spanner flats and having to use mole grips on the shafts

    200: Well.. I almost died.

It is not just compound but construction as well. Some have hard sidewalls, some have soft, some are nylon reinforced, some are Kevlar. That is why you buy 4 tyres the same on the same day from the same batch.
