High average knock signal / engine not running smoothly

Let me ask you this: is the car hesitant when you accelerate (other than the standard flat spot)? Does it stutter anywhere in the RPM range? If no to all of these, then as RSRowe said don't worry about it. The car will definitely tell you when something is wrong, showing up when it drives...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Nice combo, Rich, they look great! I didn't know the Godspeed discs mate up to the Reyland bells, thats good news when it comes time for disc changes. Any reason why you went with Godspeed discs over a Reyland set?

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 wear rate...

I'm pretty sure this is a use case for tire rotation.... at least front to back on a regular basis to extend the life of the tire.

Gearbox tough to select at high rpm

Do you mean you cant slide it into the gate at high RPM? Or it feels like the clutch isnt letting go? If its the former, I had this issue as well. Slow upshifts and even slower downshifts - transmission fluid change helped, but after a while I fitted new synchros which fixed the issue.

    Gear knob broken or what?

Yes its normal, they all break on all well travelled Clios. Poor French design. Mine went as well last year. From what I gathered, to get a universal fit knob on the lever, you will need to remove most of the plastic at the top. Other option is to fit OE Renault alternatives (GBP 120 or so)...

My First Renault - Clio 197 Weekend/Track Toy Project

If you plan on tracking the car frequently, the top mounts are a must! You will need a lot more camber up front to A) fit in chunkier wheels on a lowered setup, and B) get more grip out of your tires on corners. Check your sidewalls after the next track day: if there is a lot of wear right up...

    Steering vibration on cold engine

AFAIK, theres only OEM for rubber replacement. This will get you the minimized NVH you want, so no cabin rattles or squeaks, and no vibrations in the mirrors, etc. However, they have a relatively limited shelf life. Out here with our heat in the UAE, they last 3-4 years MAX. However, if you...

    Steering vibration on cold engine

Then have your mechanic check the mounts. I would bet a few of them are perished / collapsed

    Brake refresh opinions

Aren't the standard renault pads in the rear brembo as well? I use DS1.11 all around no issues (except dust)

    Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire HELP NEEDED

These Clios need some TLC. If the last owner was lax in his maintenance, then you might have a few issues to clear. Once they are done tho, you can have years of trouble free fun!

    Remove sound proofing?

I have heard some tuners recommend leaving the stock airbox on for power, as it seems to be the best one besides a V6. Ask around with a few tuning houses (independent from Ktec, etc) and see what they say.

    High oil consumption

I found with Castrol, I would only burn off 1/3 to 1/2 of a Liter every 7,000 kms. With the Motul, I would go through a full Liter every 7k. Thats a mix between a few track days and spirited daily driving.

    Remove sound proofing?

If you want more noise, get the Toyosport manifold. Cheap enough that it's hard to ignore, and the car will sound miles better!

    Belgian 197 track toy

I know this story, it goes just suspension, then just bigger brakes, then just more power, then just a Meg 225 swap..... :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :thumb: Welcome to the club!

    Crankshaft Pulley Issues?

Silly question, but are your mounts in good shape? Torque arm and upper engine mount? Maybe theres some ticking coming from them if they have collapsed

    Everything but the kitchen sink...

With the FDU, highway driving will be pretty high up in the room band. As for the diff, a Gripper requires maintenance every so often, which will mean pulling the gearbox and opening it up. I put in an ATB diff similar to a Quaife in mine, which is fit and forget. Ya I notice the diff takes a...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

I was running DS1.11 on the compbrake 2 piece 330mm kit, and they would judder after a few weeks of street driving. I gave up and switched to reylands floating kit last year and other than a little judder on the first track day with the pads and discs getting acquainted, they've been rock solid...
