    Track Wheels Winter Storage

Do you still get on the track in the winter @NickD?

    Track Wheels Winter Storage

All good things... Even if I do end up hitting the track in the dead of winter, ideally I'd like to store them some place above 0-degrees.

    Track Wheels Winter Storage

Hi all, I recently invested in a set of track day wheels (Prorace 1.2 alloys with toyo r888r proxies). Since winter is not that far off I expect (hope?) that there will still be some life left in the tyres once the track day season comes to an end. So I'm looking for some tips for storing them...

    Lewis's Clio 200 Cup

Right enough. They were completely new, unused and in original boxes. Well done btw, they fit great!

    Lewis's Clio 200 Cup

Thanks guys. Wheels should be standard colour, but they did get powder coated so there is a chance the colour is different. I'll be sure to post updates on how I get on with the r888rs. I'm hoping they'll allow me more control through the twisty bits of knockhill. Had a lot of four wheel...

    Lewis's Clio 200 Cup

Thanks johnny. Tbh I was suprised I got spousal approval for the wheels! I've also got my eye on the SLS track day on September 9th. The Clio Sport Owners Club are going to be there so should be a few clios in attendance.

    Lewis's Clio 200 Cup

I've had my wee 2012 Clio 200 Cup for just over a year now. I think its great in stock form so have no major modification plans. I have, however, fixed and replaced a few things, and recently invested in a set of track day wheels. Thought it was time to start a progress thread! After a string...

    Nice weather for a drive

It does look good with the reg plate deleted. If only... Nights like those are pretty much what I got the car for, and it certainly delivers. Just need to try it out on the track now. Got a track day at knockhill booked for June 2nd. Can't wait!

    Nice weather for a drive

Hard to beat a Clio 200 cup, sun and quiet B roads. Hope 2018 brings more nights like these!

New TPI bolts fit the back, but not the front

Re-tapping the bolt holes fixed the problem. With wheel off I was able to feel the bolt getting bogged down pretty quickly, whereas after tapping I could screw it all in with no bother. Thanks for the help everyone.

Rubbing noise near left steering lock

The mechanic called it a "steering arm". After a quick internet search I think the part is more commonly known as a "wishbone suspension lower arm". If that is the case then @Foxspeed might have been correct about the ball joint being the actual cause as I think it comes with the arm.

Rubbing noise near left steering lock

Steering arm replaced yesterday, seems to have solved the problem. Took the car out for a b-road drive last night and the car was perfect. Long may that continue!

New TPI bolts fit the back, but not the front

Thanks for the offer @Chris. After some consideration I decided to invest £15 for an M14x1.5 tap & matching wrench :shuv:, may as well do a proper job. I've already got some thread cutting oil in my shed.

New TPI bolts fit the back, but not the front

Thanks @Chris @Mossy it sounds like rust is the likely culprit. I dont have a tapping tool but maybe if I get the wheels off I'll be able to work the bolt in a few extra mm. Or I can maybe get a garage to have a look.

New TPI bolts fit the back, but not the front

Thats a good suggestion about the thread length. There seems to be a bit of rust overlap in the picture of the front thread hole. I'll need to get the car jacked up and wheels off so I can have a proper look without worrying about scratching anything.

New TPI bolts fit the back, but not the front

Once they are finger tight the old bolts feel properly tight after a few rotations with the tool. Same with the tpi bolts on the back. However, the same tpi bolt on the front is still not totally tight after more rotations than the others. Very scientific I know I dont want to keep tightening...

New TPI bolts fit the back, but not the front

I recently had my wheels powder coated so ordered a set of black TPI bolts since a number of people seem to recommend them. I got TPI Black Tapered Longer Bolts 14x1.50 28mm ones...
