@Branx what car did you fit the Eibachs to?

Haha brilliant Timbo! I'm convinced he'll love it! :grimacing: I can't wait to drive the Mini on track once it's done, it's ten years (Jesus I can't believe that!) since I sold my last one and I never drove it on track.

MS 200 fun road and track car - and other car stuff!

We were at Cadwell in the mk2 MX5 on Weds, truly fantastic day! Next up is Cadwell again in the VX220 on May 10th. Then I'm planning a couple of Blytons, one in the Clio letting my Dad drive. He spent his working life building rally Minis and then performance and race Mini engines, but never...

First of the Blyton vids, just a few clips from my first session following a nicely prepared 197. :french:

    16" wheels fit!!!!!

Those are 7" wide so to me at least 225 is a bit wide for them. Better with some 8s.

I offered a 16" wheel up last evening 'just to see' if they fit... They do! Details here for anyone interested: http://www.clio197.net/threads/16-wheels-fit.56264/ If they were the right stud pattern, I would have bought them for the Clio, as Dad's had them laying about for years. Any track...

    16" wheels fit!!!!!

Oh definitely! I'm a function > form kinda guy when I go to the track though...

    16" wheels fit!!!!!

If slim weights won't work I'm sure you'd find somewhere to fit them, I've seen much tighter wheel/caliper clearance before.

    16" wheels fit!!!!!

I love fitting smaller wheels to reduce weight and improve gearing. So when I got my 200 I looked into fitting 16s but here didn't seem to be any evidence of them fitting. I had a wheel off at Dad's earlier and he had a set of 16" Team Dynamics Pro Race wheels. They weren't the right stud...

Clio is playing support car this weekend as we're at Cadwell in the slow MX5. When you've only got 87bhp you need all the help you can get... Fit like a glove, and the parcel shelf went down! You wouldn't get those in a GT3!! :tearsofjoy:

    Help needed choosing lowering springs.

Not sure if it's wishful thinking but I'm wondering if they may have a slightly less harsh ride. The Eibachs are progressively wound but I've only seen a single rate for oem. For me the adjustable Konis are the more appealing proposition, they use the same damping in the KW type 2 so for...

    Help needed choosing lowering springs.

That's good to hear :grinning: Best feedback would someone with a 200 Cup chassis that has gone from Cup shocks and springs to Cup shocks and Eibachs. Can compare the 200 Cup springs and Eibachs more directly then...

Sorry to pull this slightly off topic, is it just the later top mounts that you can't get the Konis for or the 200 Cup chassis? Could you use the earlier top mount if so?

    Help needed choosing lowering springs.

I'm in a similar situation Paul, despite trying to avoid spending any (more) money I'm drawn to Koni adjustables and I think from my research it looks like the Eibachs have the best ride. I would be very interested to hear from someone who has put Eibachs on a Cup chassis with the Cup shocks...

MS 200 fun road and track car - and other car stuff!

To be honest I'm a RWD convert! :tearsofjoy: I had classic Minis for a few years, then mk2 CRXs so knew how much fun you could have with a hot hatch. But once I tasted RWD with the S2000 and then the MX5s on track I must admit, there is just more enjoyment to be had from driving them around and...

Cheers gents, I like to do a bit of a write up when I go on track or do interesting stuff. Popping a video together to share a bit more too! :grinning:

I paid £340 delivered which I know is well priced. I understand the cost price has gone up since but if you have a look on eBay, Facebook and the usual tyre sites you might get some for £360-380

They're good tyres on the road too, I would say they're better than the contisports in all conditions bar properly wet with standing water. They're likely slightly louder but I honestly didn't notice any difference in noise when I switched from budget road tyres.

A little late with the update as I was hopeful of having the track pictures but they've not landed yet... Blyton Park // 08.04.2017 I booked an afternoon at Blyton with Mazda on Track to test the water with the Clio. The MoT days are well run and tend to have better than average driving...
