Any advise on measuring the backlash on diff and what the tolerance should be. Going to be swapping gripper diff into a spare gearbox I have.

Just looked at the technical sheet - looking at the type of bolt this is (hollow bolt) I think that's why I've missed it.

Will get a pic, but not even sure there was a thread in the shaft for a bolt. I assume you're not implying that it's not needed

The box I took apart few weeks ago didn't actually have that bolt, which I thought was strange.

I'm confident about stripping the box, and replacing synchro rings, but stripping the gripper - that might be a step too far ;-)

Yeah, I've since noticed it is GL4 compliant, so assumed it wouldn't harm the synchro rings. Bloody expensive stuff though, and that's another 2litres I need to throw away (recycle) now!!!!

Update on this one. 3rd gear completely gave up half way through the day at Oulton on Saturday, so spent last few hours driving 2nd and 4th only. Looks like the gearbox was a bad one all along, and I was sold a complete PUP !! Will have to transfer the gripper to another box and see if I can get...

Ah sorry, thought you were taking a bare shell and putting rhd 197/200 donor parts on it. If it's a full race car then personally would leave it as lhd.
