Any weak points in the 197 cooling system?

Glad you have a starting point there - sounds like you're onto something! @suj you're a legend, thanks a lot mate! :)

Any weak points in the 197 cooling system?

Cheers @suj - If I removed the battery and housing I can assume this would provide plenty of access to get it replaced. Mine isn't specifically showing any signs of failure but I'm just looking to do some preventative maintenance!

Any weak points in the 197 cooling system?

@Foxspeed is it the stat or the housing? I think I have a super slow coolant leak out the housing but not sure if the housings normally fail or is it's the gasket? Wondering if this could be the same for @Helpimonfire too?

My First Renault - Clio 197 Weekend/Track Toy Project

Actually not sure what the stock size is meant to be but I have 225 on mine at the moment and I get the same very slight rub when full lock and moving at like 5mph. Assumed this is kinda normal when lowered/spacers etc. I'll check out some 215s and post back when I know what they are like...

My First Renault - Clio 197 Weekend/Track Toy Project

Nice little update - glad to see you had some track time. I am yet to book some in but during this pandemic it's tough to find a spot! I have the RS Tuner - it's genuinely a fantastic bit of kit. Maps/calibrations can be purchased from Henk @www.fastchip.nl and it offers much more than just a...

    New Powerflex Lower Mount

I bought the PF inserts but my mechanic said my mount was shot so he said to replace the mount and he'll pop the inserts on at the same time... I assume this would just be a straight replacement instead and I wouldn't need the inserts? Cheers

    Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire HELP NEEDED

Fair play - you seem to have a positive attitude towards the issues you're having. When you replace the clutch, stick with genuine Renault parts and be sure to do the clutch slave cylinder at the same time. I've had my 197 for a little over 2 and a half years and I had the belts/pump and clutch...

    Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire HELP NEEDED

Hi mate and welcome to the forum. First things first - there is a HUUUUGE "How-to" section and loads of 'premium' content that I think you would find extremely useful, being that you're a new owner of a Clio, but you need to be a member to access these areas on the forum. I think it's £6 for...

    Crankshaft Pulley Issues?

Curious if the noise changes or is eliminated when you press the clutch all the way in?

    Rentune Question and Specialist Recommendations

I've got a Fastchip RSTuner and it's brilliant. You get a full software solution, it's relatively easy to remap, Henk (I assume the owner) will ask for some data logs before sending your map to you and it's relatively cheap. Mine transformed my car and although the flatspot is still present...

    Catback causing EML?

What RSRowe said - I'd take a OBD scanner and check out the codes for yourself. If the car was physically in decent nick, drives okay and is cheap then it might be worth it. I'd also checkto see when the last clutch was fitted and when the belts and pump were last done as these 2 jobs alone...

    Gear linkage snapped

Hey guys, just a quick follow up on this one - I just sorted this today and all is well but........ That little end part that had snapped off - I was able to shift the white plastic part where the spring is upwards like this: Then on the other side where the orange part is, you can push this...

    Gear linkage snapped

I've just bought the gear stick with cables as a complete unit second hand from a Clio 200. Renbreakers messaged me back saying it is compatible and they look identical so worth a punt for £30. Thanks for the responses fellas :)

    Gear linkage snapped

Also does anybody know if the 197 and 200 share the same? For example if I purchased a whole set of cables from a 200, would it be a straight swap? Kinda desperate here as I'm not having any luck at finding a part number or anything... Does this part come apart? If so, then surely I could...

    Gear linkage snapped

Hey fellas, So I took the sh*tbox daily (Peugeot 206) in for MOT today and will be getting it back tomorrow. Great, I can use the 197 for a day or 2 until I get the daily back, right? Wrong! Ran some errands this evening in the 197 and (this is the lucky part) the second I got home, I selected...

Fixing lock micro switch on handles

Also @Tylerbell004 - here is the thread I referenced in my first reply :) https://clio197.net/threads/how-to-replace-the-door-handle-microswitch.62766/#post-728955

Fixing lock micro switch on handles

I bought a pack of 10 micro switches, only plan on using 2 (or 3 if the first goes wrong!) so will have a bunch of spares left if anybody needs any.

Fixing lock micro switch on handles

Hi Tyler, If you become a paid member at any point, you'll have access to a tonne of "how-to" threads. Amongst those threads, there is a "how to replace the door handle microswitch" thread that's incredibly detailed with links to parts etc. Your services are most likely wanted by many, so...
