    Constant Thermostat Failures!

Worst case scenario the fan will run more. I doubt its going to overheat and its not a massively expensive part to replace.

    Dougs Albi blue 197

Sounded like yours didn't need changing! I know my release bearing is goosed, it whines like a banshee in a box but worse when cold. Just putting off the £750 odd bill for a clutch pack change. That would be good, its still on the possible list but with a wedding to pay for its not at the top...

    Constant Thermostat Failures!

I know it will retard the timing when its too hot, losing power and making it run hot. However, what I have found is in the winter even a thermostat only 6-12 months old is not strong enough to run at a decent temp for normal driving. Last winter I saw temps of 65 degrees at times when it was...

    Dougs Albi blue 197

Sounds like you'll have a new car! These are transformed when the basics are new. Suspension, engine servicing, brakes, etc. Not cheap to do though, especially suspension.

    Dougs Albi blue 197

Well worth doing. Id put it on one of the top service items as a must do for any mileage car really. Mine was black but had no swarf in so I was happy. I didnt measure how much I got out but id estmate I got 1.8 litres back in. I still had a few millimetres of oil at the bottom of the 2nd...

    Dougs Albi blue 197

Small update, I bought the Redline MTL gearbox oil. I was determined to get 70w80 stuff before Redline changed to 75w80. I bought 2 bottles from Halls Performance online but when it turned up it was 75w80 anyway. I paid a little more posted than Opie Oils are selling it for annoyingly...

    Anyone have a resonated Milltek?

Interesting hearing there are a few reports of this. The whole reason for me changing was to get something that wouldn't need repairing every 5 minutes and not be much louder (always expect a slight increase) but I dont fancy it being loud. I dont do a lot of motorway journeys but the ones I do...

    Wheel spacers and handling

I believe the Cup racers ran 10mm back and 5mm front but dont know if they all ran it. They also had 8J Cup racer rims with differing offsets and widths to regular 7.5J OEM rims. From memory, to run hubcentric spacers you will need 21mm front and 19mm back minimum due to the depth of the hub...

    Wheel spacers and handling

The issue from what I understand is the fact you are increasing the distance from the pivots to the centre of the wheel which is adjusting the scrub radius. And anything at the back affects the front and vice versus. I am also in two minds however and have hovered over the buy it now button...

    Bonnet Alarm Sensor Fixing?

I have a feeling theres just a plastic sticker on the bonnet Rishi. The plug for the bonnet alarm switch has a bit which clips into the bracket Lewis put a photo up of. Then theres the grey rubber dome ontop. Is your bonnet misaligned?

    Check your scuttle drain!

All cars have the one way flap for those drainage tubes, its to stop debris getting in from the bottom. My old BMW had very long tubes down the back of the archs and would clog easier than the Clio. Moisture shouldnt as theres a seal on the engine side of the tray to stop water overflowing...

    Check your scuttle drain!

I dont bud, I didnt take photos but I remember taking it out, looking down the gap and thinking whats that wire! I was wary only because theres various modules and fuseboxes on that side of the car. I may have a look at some point. Anyone know if you can access that area from popping out the...

    Anyone have a resonated Milltek?

Hey all, As above, I have had a 200 system with tips since February to fit and just never got round to it with other expenses. I dont dislike the stock exhaust note but its been gummed up more times than my nans fake teeth and its bound to fail again at any point. Plus, the Milltek is a lighter...

    Check your scuttle drain!

My drivers side was basically closed, seems the rubber had perished/shrunk (unless they arr like that?) And the end up with a kind of rot on them which makes the surface rough and catchs and holds dirt, sticks and leaves. If I could find out what the wire is on the passenger side and tape it out...

    Tempted by a 225...

Saving for a wedding (September 2019) so my finances arnt placed for a new car at the moment. My 197 is probably only worth £2.5-3k with the mileage too. Thanks Darren, interesting to hear that. Sounds like if I was going to go that way an R26 is the option, but from the R26's Ive seen they...

    Quick alignment question

They should have different values for regular and Cup equipped cars, go with Cup values.
