Little bit of slop when pulling away...

Changing the torque mount does have a dramatic effect. I find it more direct and feels good, having done gearbox mount, torque mount and dogbone/bottom Id say thats more than enough for a road car. Main mount gives horrible vibrations, mine only gives vibrations at idle.

When the wife borrows the car

Dash says 28.5, real world calculations are 30-31 mpg. Ive got 34 before on normal town driving shifting at 2k but where is the fun in that!

Cheap eBay exhaust - I've taken the plunge..

I was very reluctant to change mine as I didnt want something loud, drony and anti social but the fact my car has done 121k now and the fact my exhaust has been pasted up more times than a plasterers radio means its not long til the mild steel unit is beyond scrap. I opted for a 2nd hand Miltek...

Megane 250, what are they like?

Have you researched into the 250/265/275 differences (other than power) and years they came out? Im kinda hoping they continue to drop price wise as they seem to be coming down steadily.

Megane 250, what are they like?

Hey all, I currently have a Clio 197 in Albi blue, its very good at what it does however Ive found myself attracted to Megane 250's lately. I miss having a good bit of torque, the quiet of a turbo and not needing to rev it to 4-5k before getting some power. I see the Megane as a bit more...

    Gutting the Air Con Compressor

I think the OP is thinking of removing the innards of air con compressor leaving the pulley and belt in place. I cant say I know how to do it though but seems a clever idea.

    RS200 MK3 - Ticking Noise with Revs

Sounds daft but its not running on 3 cylinders is it? Coilpacks and plugs can go, the first cylinder plug (closest to torque mount side/offside) can get water pooling in and around the cylinder due to split windscreen washer pipes.

    Quick help!

From what I understand its not so much the headunit but the display which is different and needed.

    Interior Audio upgrades

I'd disagree with DumDum above (sorry buddy) as when I swapped out the stock speakers for some £18 (yes, that is one eight) JVC speakers from eBay (designed to replace OEM) it was miles better. Its no audiophiles dream but better bass, broader frequency and better clarity. Upgrading the headunit...

Throttle body vs Injectors vs pedal potentiometer

There has been issues with the fly by wire throttle, check the connection. Throttle bodies are generally simple and dont often fail on these unless they have been played with (bored out to larger sizes, the springs cant be wound as tight)

Map sensor mod? what is it...

Essentially the Map sensor is a poor fit. Rumour has it that the Clio Cup car manual suggests cable tieing the Map sensor down to stop any air bypass to give an accurate reading. For me, its one step further than that as it needs to also be level to get the best seal. Try turning ignition on...

    Sprint Hillclimb 197

Welcome, its a good looking example! Whats the plan for modding it? For hill climbing I'd suggest weight loss but maintenance and upgrades is definitely needed. The Trophy is gorgeaus! One massive thing for the stuttering and 'kangarooing' is turn on ignition before turning the car on, much...

Zen and the Art of Clio Maintenance

New suspension is like night and day on these, I love how smooth mine is now after replacing loads of bits. Looks tidy! One thing I did which added a bit more pep was change to 200 Cup wheels, they are 1kg lighter per wheel than any of the other OEM wheels and although not massive adds a little...

    Interesting Pistonheads aritcle.....

They really slated the 197, but then so did Evo aswell. Having not driven a 200 I cant say how much different it is but mine has 200 dampers and a few mods which should mean its comparable to a stock 200 at least power wise. Quicker steering rack is one I want but cant justify spending out for.

200 cup dampers an upgrade for a 197?

Ive done this, great idea as sharpens up the handling. Id say 200 Cup dampers on the rear I find too hard, I think 200 Cup front dampers and 197 Cup rear dampers would be good. It can be too stiff for a road car.

    Dougs Albi blue 197

Ive recieved the seat subframes, very impressed with them. Quality bolts and well designed, no issues with alignment or spacing. Fitting was relatively easy: Remove the seat rails/runners, 13mm bolts one side and 16mm the other. T20 torx bolt on the 3 screws holding the plastic fascia on the...

    200: Brakes working poorly

I recently had brake problems, vagueness, no real bite, etc. Turns out the pad material had come away from the backing and was causing problems. Once found was an easy sort but potentially could have been a big issue if not sorted. Worth giving the calipers a cleanup and pads a check, naff pads...

They are, theres a decent loop you can do. I'm literally 2 minutes drive from the moors so good for a spirited drive without really thinking about it or ages of driving. Just have to be careful of animals!
