It's the price of the shocks that's annoying me lol. A damper is way more complicated than a top mount, so I don't like that the top mounts are almost as expensive lol

I'm looking to change the front dampers on my 197, as they look more than a bit past it. It makes sense to do the top mounts at the same time obviously, so I was wondering what people's experiences are? It's a road car and I will be fitting new OEM dampers, so I don't think anything adjustable...

I wish I knew what exhaust mine has. Not found any markings on it so far.

I'd definitely have a drive and see what you think. You may miss the torque of the turbo engine, so probably worth testing the water. I'd probably try a couple of other cars while you're about it. A Fiesta ST, or Pug 208 by Peugeot Sport, that kind of thing. Might make a nice middle ground, as...

The fronts are plastic, so you're kind of stuck with them. I don't think doing the rears would bother most people if it was done properly. Thanks, it's a good combo I think!

Best bet is probably to drive them both. I had a MK7 Golf R, and it was very good, but not very exciting. It would be interesting to try the GTI, as I wonder if it might feel a bit more lively being FWD only. The MK7 Golf is a very nice car overall though. Comfortable, rides well, nice interior...

The wheels will stick out of the arches with the spacers on I should think, especially at the front. This is mine on 17x7J ET41 rims, albeit with 205 tyres:

I'm not really worried about that personally. They'll still take a 215 tyre, so are fine for factory profile tyres. You might squeeze a 225 on if you particularly wanted one I guess. A 7J rim is lighter too :tearsofjoy:

Yeah they are silly cheap for what they are. Ah yes, my mate was exactly the same. Bought a Puma as a cheap track day car, threw all the interior in a skip, then decided he wanted to try a targa, so had to buy it all again :tearsofjoy: it's a shame they are so strict on that. Relaxing the rules...

It's an awful design. The lower flange means that moisture and crap just sits behind the arch liner, so it's no wonder it rots. I painted it tonight anyway, so will put it back on tomorrow. I only did the one 12-car. It was ok, but I wouldn't hurry to do another. Targa rallies look more fun...

Since I've owned the car, the lock buttons on the door handles haven't worked. I bought some new micro switches from @Ianboom ages ago, along with some spare door handles as mine were a bit scratched/worn. Rather than doing them in silver or black, I decided to colour-code them to the car...

That brings us up to the lovely lockdown! Decided to test fit the R3 wheels. The guy I bought them from supplied some wheel nuts with them, but I don't have studs, and the standard wheel bolts seem to fit fine. They're 17x7J, ET41. They sit well in the arches I think... It definitely needs...
