I don't know where this is going to end up...

After planning not to do anything until the spring... stuff happened anyway. January 2020 - Carbon Fibre spoiler end plates, Spatz and door handle covers January 2020 - De-badged and De-stickered the boot and rear window. February 2020 - New MTec drilled and grooved discs, and brembo pads, on...

Slow gear changes after gearbox rebuild

So I did a few things today - 1. Had garage change the brake fluid: mast step after I fitt new pads and discs all round. 2. Installed a powerflex gearbox mount - yellow one. 3. Pressure bled the clutch - old fluid looked like sludge, and quite a lot of bubbles came through with the new...

Slow gear changes after gearbox rebuild

I bought the polybushes at the same time as a Toyosport manifold, but haven’t had anything fitted yet. Might have a go at the gearbox and upper engine mount myself at the weekend - the guides in the How To section are pretty good. Following this thread now in case anyone has other suggestions.

Slow gear changes after gearbox rebuild

I noticed something similar after having my clutch changed: it sometimes takes a bit more effort to push into gear when you’re pressing on and changing up near the top of the rev range. I bought some new engine and gearbox mounts that should firm things up - but no idea if they’ll help.

    Time for new calipers?

So finished up yesterday and did the front discs and pads - caliper pins came out super easy, the right tools obviously help. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pin-Punch-Tool-Set-DESIGNED-to-use-on-Vehicle-Brake-Pads-/363087977589 The new pins I bought from Kamracing (not branded - only £12) were...

    Time for new calipers?

Yep - I bought some Ferrari Red calliper paint from eBay that can be hand painted. Firet thing I did was strip flaking paint and corrosion with a powerdrill and wire brush attachment while they were on the car. Then I played calliper Hokey Cokey changing the pads and discs - it would take me...

    Time for new calipers?

As always the scope and budget crept and a tin of paint turned into new discs and pads... but all good because I saved money by not buying new callipers! Sat on my arse on the freezing cold drive for best part of 3 hours today, but rear discs and pads on the car, and first coat of paint’s on...

    Time for new calipers?

Thanks all - I’ve ordered some red calliper paint to tidy up, and some calliper springs just in case they do anything useful. If they still stick after the cleanup I’ll have a go at replacing the pistons/seals. Is there anything I should lubricate/grease the next time I have them apart - just...

    Time for new calipers?

Rear brakes started sticking on after car had been sitting for a few days so I followed How To guide to take callipers apart, clean and reassemble. Good news is handbrake cables look good. Bad news is paint’s flaking off all over the place! What are my options... will they be ok for a while...

    Added some Carbon bits

Too dark now but I’ll get a couple of close up photos tomorrow - I like the finish, much better finish than the originals.

    Added some Carbon bits

Added some Carbon Fibre bits to the car - freshened up some dull spots, and happy with the result. ktec ends for the spoiler were an expensive way to replace the rusty screw heads! Supreme motorsport handle covers (dipped) - Good finish, and I don’t miss the buttons, but might end up...

I don't know where this is going to end up...

Final update for the year: Dec 2020 - New genuine Renault PCV valve (Engine noise fixed) Dec 2020 - New genuine Renault Thermostat (Coolant leak fixed) I’ll probably go ahead with the Toyo manifold and powerflex bits next year, but car’s now tucked away in garage for the winter. Also eyeing...

I saw an Alien Green 200 in Chelmsford at about 9:45 - maybe the same one! #stalkers

200: Gurgling water noise behind dash

New Thermostat arrived from RPD this morning... didn’t expect it until Monday, so really happy to get it swapped out this afternoon!!! Not too messy a job - and all dry after a 30 minute drive. Old thermostat seal was properly knackered. Thanks everyone for the help on this one - picture of...

I don't know where this is going to end up...

Part of me feels same - I’m taking baby steps, but check back in 12 months and I’ll probably have chopped out the cats and silencers :tearsofjoy:

200: Gurgling water noise behind dash

I was worried in case it only leaks when when it gets really hot and things expand, but luckily it revealed itself today after sitting for an hour at 1.5 bar... and it’s even in a place where I can easily see it! Guessing it’s the thermostat seal so I’ll get a new genuine thermostat ordered up...

I don't know where this is going to end up...

I think the Scorpion non-res will be a whole different beast to my Milltek resonated system! The setup I’ve got is pretty subtle, and the cat back system on its own wasn’t very different to standard - just a bit more fruity under acceleration. After I fitted KTR induction kit all I could hear...

200: Gurgling water noise behind dash

Coolant level still dropping very slowly, but have recently spotted coolant pooling beneath the thermostat housing. Going to pressure test the system as a next step and check for leaks around that area. There’s dried coolant EVERYWHERE so hoping there will be a fairly obvious leak!

Any idea what this noise is?!?

PCV valve replaced - noise gone! Thanks very much everyone for the advice.
