Solution? My belts are being done shortly, need it done right.

Remove the trumpet that was here, and block the vac pipe that's left... All it takes is a 10mm socket and something to block the vac pipe with (I used a 4mm steel dowl pin) Will be adding a cold air feed to mine down to the front somewhere.

What's the best way of checking if the timings dead on on one of these engines?

Been at the strut tops this morning, they don't 'seem' to be the cause of the knocking. Drivers side (side that knocks) Fitted this washer (still knocks) Passenger side (for reference)

Yeah I've also accepted the sold knock as just part of the car but this dam suspension knock is driving me mad!

I had a phase one Cooper S, thirstiest car I've ever owned! It was making a smidge under 240bhp though.

Yeah its a beast :) My knock is defo on the drivers side, but the only thing that was even slightly worn was the inner rack on the passenger side. Hopefully will either rule out strut tops or find the problem over the weekend, either way I'll be one step closer.

I had the passenger side one done. Going to check out my top mounts over the weekend if I get time. Got to rebuild my Supermoto first though.

Trumpet has been back on for a few days and the code is back :( At least I can rule that out now!

Need to have a look at mine and want to make sure I got the right size spanner before stripping the wipers and scuttle off etc. So can anyone cofirm what size spanner is needed?
