I swapped from a diesel Sport Hatch to a 197 and it was a brilliant move. The sound alone is worth the fact that you have to visit the pumps twice as often! Mine was remapped to nearly 200bhp and had over 300 torques, but I reckon the Clio is still quicker as there will always be corners...

Clio with Recaros and half a tank of fuel weighs 1250kg, not 1300. I know this coz we have a weighbridge at work.

The xenons are absolutely fantastic. The amount of light they put out on full beam is the bestest I've ever had since my XR2 that had 4 100W rally lamps! Right, now I've said that, does anyone wanna buy my car? (it has xenons!) :D

I always keep originals, then put back to standard and sell the aftermarket stuff when I sell the car. People always want standard cars!

Check the paint very carefully. Lots of the green ones have paint flaws and they're so hard to put right that dealers are refusing to even try. I know a chap who bought a green one and they knocked about 5 grand off the price rather than try and respray the drivers door!

197's are really hard to sell on now, coz the 200 gets so much good press. My local dealer has had 4 or 5 on the forecourt for months now. Even before the 200 came out I tried & failed to sell mine privately and am now coming to terms with only getting around £8K for it as a trade-in, rather...
