    Another brake fluid thread...

Are you sure that's true Woody? I used 5.1 for years on my Nissan 200sx with great success on road and track. Due to the battering the brakes got on track I used to change it every 6 months anyway and used DS3000 pads (which have a huge metal content!). Dot 5 is silicone based and can't be used...

Your fluid won't make your brakes bite any better, just feel and stay firm as you give your brakes a kicking. Ugrading your pads is what you need. Had good results with ds2500 pads, and pretty good results with redstuff. Rich

    Lowering a 200

I'm currently running SPAX coilovers on my Alpina and they're pretty comfy on fully soft. Click 4-5 and they're on my limits of a daily driver that handles well.. 7-10 it handles like on rails, but is just too hard to drive with on our roads. they go up to 24 clicks!! In my time I've run a...

    Another brake fluid thread...

Having just looked at your link.. good quality brake fluid is expensive. aka £14/L expensive! Edit, having just read your post properly (!!) if you're not doing track days then the ATE blue is serious overkill. Just buy quality branded fluid and have be done with it. If you boil your fluid on...

    Lowering a 200

The comments about the springs making the ride harsh is just not true if you use a progressive spring. Eibach are masters of ride comfort + handling/lowering... Rich

I'd recommend ATE Blue.. you can buy it from euro car parts off the shelf and it's very good! dry - 280oC wet - 198oC dot5 needs changing every year or so I think.. dot4 'race' can just be changed at normal intervals ~ 3 years. http://www.performanceoilsltd.co.uk/brake_fluid.html <-- random...

    helllppppp please

Chargecoolers are more expensive in parts, take longer to install and less reliable.. I can't think why a tuner/garage would advise you to fit one... ;) As I said, a chargecooler should by design have a touch less lag, so may be closer to the responsive NA experience, which may be why its...

    Is supercharging a "real" option???

Agreed.. I thinhk everyone is finding the limit of the engine/ECU when trying it.. :(

    Is supercharging a "real" option???

Not a REAL option in my opinion, unless you want to throw a bucket full of money at the car with forged pistons and con rods... great for the dreamers maybe. The 200 engine is just too higer compression ratio to work well. I would also, personally, opt for a megane engine conversion over trying...

    helllppppp please

A chargecooler is much smaller and generally lighter and reduces the lag you often get when putting a large intercooler in place. However, they're more complicated and rely on water being pumped around to work. An intercooler is a just a big radiator, which is way cheaper to impliment and never...

    spacers

I'll see what he can do.. considering its 5 quid of materials and a fully automated process, I think these spacer manufacturers are taking the pee somewhat! I know a guy in the UK who machines spacers too for about 60 quid including bolts and postage. Rich

    spacers

A friend of mine co-owns a CNC plant out in India.. I'll see if he's interested in doing large run of 15-20mm hubcentric spacers for the clio. Rich

    Sat Nav

Yeah, Google Navigation/Maps only caches the map for the route though, if you have to take an alternate route, you're a bit stuck... or if you go abroad too i.e. bandwidth ££! From reading a few dev blogs, I think they're trying to work on a solution though. I tend to go to commute in my car...

    Sat Nav

£1500.. holy cow! AS it's a £400 option, it's not *that* expensive, but then it's just a tomtom One under the cover I think, which is about £100 I think. You can buy the updates via tomtom directly I think, so shouldn't be that pricey. Still, it's quite set back on the dash so assuming it has a...

    Average age and insurance ...

Jesus.. I hit a few compare sites and I was getting quotes of £680 odd for a new 200, although I plan on doing about 17k a year. I'm 33, live in Reading, car garaged, 10 yrs NCB, no claims, no accidents, 3 points, partner added as driver. Rich

    Sat Nav

I originally specced the tomtom in my car, but having seen one the screen is a bit too big and sticks out the dash too much. Would have been ok if it flipped down when not used, but its fixed. I opted for a monitor and use my phone for sat nav.. and get a proper mount installed with hidden wires.

    Average age and insurance ...

You can't do that now.. the main driver has to be the policy holder or you'll find your policy is null and voided. You can add him and your mum as additional drivers which lowers the risk... and premium. Check the small print in your insurance documents. This is after years of new drivers...
