    high millage clio 200

Full service history means nothing these days, just because the owner has thrown it at Renault once a year and it's got all the stamps that doesn't mean they've looked after it as such. Nothing wrong with high miles but agreed with others, don't just buy the first car. Test drive at least 3...

200: Clio service and cambelt north wales area "birchdown auto service " ??

I had my cam belt, aux belt, water pump and dephaser pulley done at the start of the year. I'm from the North West of England (Lancashire) and had quotes from quite a few places locally including Birchdown who I'm sorry to say quoted me £720 similar to what you've been quoted above, which...

Poor handling after new rear contisport contact 5 rears

What pressures are you running? 30PSI rear 33PSI front? - That's the 197 pressures I believe but I'm not sure if that's changed for the 200. Either way you can play about and go 3-4 PSI either way to see if it improves things or makes it worse. Some tyres need slightly more and some less...

    Noisey exhaust

If it's the manifold flexi's that have gone it's a remove the manifold job. A manifold isn't too expensive, you can pick up ones that have been repaired on e-bay ready to swap with yours for not too much money. Aftermarket is a bit dearer and in fairness unless your going to map it afterwards...

    Scorpion Resonated Exhaust

I've got a milltek resonated and K&N panel filter on mine, the flat spot on is horrific when it's cold. It's still there when it's up to temp but nowhere near as bad. The sound makes up for it, but eventually I do want to get it mapped as it can be quite annoying at times.

197: What a weekend of driving

I can't see me selling mine anytime soon, will probably run it into the ground lol. The longest I've ever kept a car was my EP3 Type R and I had that about 4 years. Very similar to the Clio in some respects but the Clio has it beaten on handling and steering feel hands down. I don't even feel...

A Nice Day To Wash The 197

Ah a fellow Nimbus owner with a very similar registration to mine ST07 lol. They do look cracking all cleaned up. Guessing you've had your alloys refurbished? - They look a bit darker than standard!

197: What a weekend of driving

Done 250miles+ in the Clio in this weekend with the cracking weather :w00t: You can forgive all it's faults and niggles when you take it on some good tarmac, listen to the tune of the exhaust and revs of the engine. I've owned quite a few hot hatches and this is by far one of the most fun and...

    Why Clio's annoy me......Part 1.

The things that bug me on the Clio are: 1. Flat spot and kangaroo'in, very bad from cold and sometimes does it when warm too. 2. Flimsy body panels and thin paint, you can tell money has been saved there. 3. The standard sound system leaves a lot to be desired, even the factory upgraded one...

    Ktec manifold review

Nice little jump in power that and you can see improvements across the rev range. Did you have it mapped to super unleaded or normal fuel that's the question?!

    Ktec manifold review

Looks like a nice bit of kit, sometimes it's worth spending more for the better build quality. It's not always about what gives the most power. I'd rather pay a bit more for a manifold that fits spot on then have to mess about bodge fitting and cutting bits off here and there personally. Be...

    What Exhaust

I've got a Milltek resonated exhaust on mine, sounds great when pressing the loud pedal but it's not too in your face or drony at speed. Gives a nice burble at low revs too and the occasional cheeky pop on the gear changes. Admittedly it might be a bit tame for some, exhausts are very subjective...

    LED sidelights/DRLs

Looks good, I've changed most of the bulbs on mine, including replacing all the interior ones with LEDs too. Makes the car look a bit more modern at night. No more orange/yellow tint!

    Exhaust advice

Messing with the exhaust on these can make the flat spot quite bad, some seem to be worse than others so it's pot luck as to how yours will react to it. If your going the de-cat route I'd recommend putting some money aside for a remap too to get the best out of it. Otherwise I'd just stick with...

New owner: a couple of transmission issues

Drop the gearbox oil and put some fresh in there, not so much as a cure but it has helped some people on here smooth things out a little. I was going to suggest bleeding the clutch but you've already done that.

    Thermostat

Yeah, I let it fully warm up on the drive with the expansion cap off and the bleed screw undone on the heater hoses to get any air out of the system. Went on a 10-12 mile run earlier to get some lunch and it seemed to behave, with AC on it dropped a little but I believe that's normal as the AC...

    Thermostat

FYI changed the stat on mine today, the old one didn't look too bad. Put it in a pan of water and sure enough at 75c it started to open... when the water cooled however it was still ever so slightly open so I'm guessing on mine the spring had gone weak and it wasn't fully closing again like it...

Anyone else find the 197 steering too light?

Compared to a lot of modern cars that I've driven the Clio 197 has quite weighty steering. Ok you can tell it's assisted but it's still better than most! Your not going to get the same feel you did from the 90s generation of hot hatches. The Clio is probably one of the few that still captures...

    How can this happen?!

I'd get some new ones ordered to be safe, someone correct me if I'm wrong but the engine mount bolts are stretch bolts on these? - So in theory should really only be used once.
