Squeeking after cambelt change on a 200

There should be no funny noises from the belts/pulleys IF they changed everything. Did the fit the kit that includes everything here... or have they changed just the rubber belts, what does it say on your invoice? From a main dealer I'm guessing you paid quite a lot for the work too so I'd be...

First proper drive of my R27!!

They're nice to drive and very capable so might be worth a test drive to see what you think. The levels of grip with the diff is very impressive and the way it pulls out of corners has to be experienced. It's just lacking somewhat in feedback and rawness compared to the Clio but that's a...

First proper drive of my R27!!

I'd go out on a limb and say the Clio is up there with the best handling hot hatches, even current ones. A few years ago I had a Corsa VXR Nurburgring with a mechanical LSD, bilstein tuned suspension and the same brembo break set up as the Clio. While the Corsa might be a bit more capable than...

    Cabasse system

I had this system in mine with the 6 disc changer in the dash and the brains of the head unit under the drives seat. It's very basic, you can wire in a 3.5mm aux cord but won't be able to control any device added to it. I ended up buying a Sony head unit in the end as I couldn't be doing without...

    Company car

My choices for a company run about would be: VW Golf GTD or Skoda Octavia vRS - think they're both the VAG 2.0L TDi so a nice strong punchy engine for motorway work, cheap to tax and run. Also respond well to a cheeky bluefin remap to make them a bit more fun ;-) If you wanted something a bit...

    Share your reflection shots!

Looking good people, I did mine today to get some protection on for when the weather turns to winter... which could be anything from tomorrow until the end of October lol. Not done to the standard of some on here mind, nice to see some Nimbus's looking slick!

    197: Insurance dilemma

In fairness the £17000 quote isn't that bad for a Clio 197 at your age and driving experience. £1700 is £141 ish a month and if you can pay it all off on say a credit card and then 0% transfer it you'll save a bit too. Insurance company's charge like 10-12% for the privilege of you paying them...

    197: Little mods <£20

I know all this lot will cost more than £20 but each on it's own isn't that far out so you could do it in stages. -Change all the interior bulbs to LED, there are plenty of sets on eBay. I got 2 packs of these here and have had them on for months with no issues -Upgrade the headlight bulbs and...

Wiper Fault (not the normal fault)

+1 on the stalk. Mine sometimes plays up but at the moment it's not too bad, if it gets worse I'll have to try to fix or replace it. There is a guide on here somewhere that shows you how to dismantle the stalk to try and clean the contacts, it's worked for some peoples that were playing up.

Noise that goes when clutch is pressed.

How loud is the noise? If it's only slight I wouldn't worry or rush to get it changed, as it's basically a gear box off and clutch change job. Most cars I've driven make some sort of noise and it goes away when the clutch is depressed, even some fairly new ones! A little noise is normal. It's...

    Milage thread

Mines a mid 2007 197 on ~63,500 miles. The things I've done on the car so far (owned since October 2015)... -Oil and filter service using genuine parts, cleaned the K&N panel filter -Cam belt kit, aux belt kit, water pump and dephaser pulley - didn't really need doing but there was no proper...

    Weird clutch issue on 197

Have you tried having the brake fluid refreshed and bleeding the brakes and clutch... they share the same fluid so if your going to bleed the clutch you might as well do the brakes at the same time! Not really sure what else it could be unless the clutch or a related component is slowly on...

    Coolant

Exactly that! The newer orange coolant should not be mixed with the old school green type and visa versa... http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/28/coolant-color/ I've never seen a newer type coolant in green? but I could be wrong. I'd always go with the orange stuff and flush the system if I was...

    Best air intake

The OEM intake on the 197/200s is actually pretty decent. The V6 air box, the KTR induction kit or the ITG maxogen are the only intakes I've read about that actually give a gain on the Clios - so you can't go wrong with either of these. We're not talking a massive difference though but they do...

    197: Insurance dilemma

The way they work car insurance out from postcodes is a joke, I'm moving house soon and mine jumps up by ~£200. The town I'm moving to is about 6miles down the road lol. I'm sure they just charge what they want, our government makes it law to have car insurance in this country yet doesn't have...

    Squeal noise

You had a look into the starter motor? Sounds like it could be a dodgy solenoid sticking on when it shouldn't be. I've heard them stick on a few seconds after starting and giving off a squeal noise but not so much once you've stopped the engine... but worth looking at I reckon. Not sure how easy...

    Corsa VXR Recaros fitted

Looks good, I dare say the VXR seats might be comfier for day to day use than the Clio ones too... (awaits a bashing lol). In all seriousness though, I had a Corsa VXR for about a year and the seats were probably one of the best my ass has had the pleasure of sitting in. Hold you really well but...

    ITG Cleaning kit

I'd just buy the kit for which ever filter you have, it's only about £10-£15 and it lasts ages. Foam and cotton are two completely different filtration mediums so the oils might be different consistencies. I know the K&N stuff is pretty thin and watery but the ITG stuff is a bit sticker if that...

    Down on power?

As said above, very few of these come close to book figures. There are ones that run 195-200bhp out there with no mods but they are few and far between, just luck of the draw. There's a sticky thread at the top of this sub-section on the forum with a load of RR graphs and figures in for you to...

    64mm ported throttle body review

I fitted my 64mm throttle body this evening, the revs fluctuated slightly but not as much as some have experienced on here. Though I haven't done a cold start with it on yet! Went on a bit of a drive, there is a bit of a difference but the jury is out as to if it's a positive or a negative for...
