    Hibernation...

I've read some people like to block up their intake/exhausts to prevent bugs or something larger crawling in there and making a mess. Raising the car on all four corners is something I would do to prevent the bearings developing a flat spot, it gives you the added bonus of being able to rotate...

    The Big Service Debate

I wouldn't pay more for a car that has full dealer service history over one that's been done DIY/independently and has a load of invoices. Full dealer history doesn't necessarily mean the previous owner(s) have looked after it. The number of previous owners is something I look at and would pay a...

    Let down by garage

Hopefully your finance company will put a bit of pressure on too. Sounds like a bad situation to be in, since they've point blank refused to admit liability the onus is on you to prove they were negligent and it was their screwdriver that caused the problem. Someone, somewhere knows they are...

Has to be a bit of Kate Beckinsale for me, I do like the yummy mummy's.

    Gearbox issue

There are a few things you can do to try and improve it: 1. Change the gearbox oil, I've got some of this waiting to go in mine. I believe the box takes just under 2 liters? 2. Check the linkages on the gearbox, maybe have them adjusted, cleaned and greased. 3. Bleed the clutch, might as well...

Is your Clio your daily ride ?

I use mine as a daily, my work commute is about 115miles a week on mostly A roads. Have to be honest sometimes I do think I'd like something a bit more suitable for it. It's a pain to drive when cold for the first mile or so and I have to be really gentle with the throttle otherwise it kangaroos...

    Clio 200 replacements?

Cooper S JCW - arguably the most 'fun' car of the ones suggested so far for back road driving and being able to throw it round a corner. You really do need to drive one to appreciate how good they are. You should be able to pick up a tidy example 2-3 years old for around £12-£15k -...

    The Nissan Leaf

I've not seen any 197s up for that low a price? I looked on auto trader the other day and within a 50 miles radius the cheapest one was up for £4,395 or something around that mark, that's with a filter on for a similar sort of age/mileage to mine. Valuations are coming back at £3800 private...

    Megane engined Clio.

The car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay. There won't be many people out there willing to pay £8-£11k on a modified Clio 197/200, no disrespect to anyone trying to sell their turbo'd Clio but that's just the way it is. The only way your going to get a decent return and stand any...

    Steering wheel refurb questions........

Those wheels by Snappy do look rather nice. I need to get mine done as it's starting to 'melt' rather badly on the right hand side where my hand rests. I'm guessing £155 is for a wheel all done and posted out rather than you having to exchange yours?

    Megane engined Clio.

As said above, niche market. It was the same on the Type R forums when I had my Civic. Plenty of Supercharged EP3s running 300-310bhp that were well done and looked after but they just didn't seem to sell for the price the buyer was trying to achieve. Most ended up accepting defeat and selling...

Is this the cambelt / dephaser / aux belt kit to buy ?

You could have always bought it direct from Renault for double the price lol. No guarantee they would reply to your e-mails though! I've heard their customer service can leave a lot to be desired sometimes.

Is this the cambelt / dephaser / aux belt kit to buy ?

Quite an interesting turn on this thread lol. I do wonder if you would be happy to pay £40-£50 more on the product to get that five star customer service and an instant response? A lot of small business can't afford to have someone man a computer 24/7 to reply to online queries and if they did...

Is this the cambelt / dephaser / aux belt kit to buy ?

I'd imagine you'd get an update once the order has been processed/dispatched. Could be 101 reasons why they haven't responded to you right away, someone might be off ill for example. It's not a huge operation in terms of man power up there and I'd imagine most of their time is spent in the...

Is this the cambelt / dephaser / aux belt kit to buy ?

+1 I can vouch for ALS Performance. I bought that kit from them and drove about 2 hours for them to fit it. The kit is all genuine Renault parts too, the guy who runs ALS said they are a UK dealer for Renault and Renault Sport so they get quite a good price on most parts.

What front and rear speakers to go for?

Mine started rattling on the front so I just replaced them with some Vibe Coaxials and unplugged the factory tweeters. I did leave the factory tweeters plugged in at first but it sounded a bit harsh/bright on certain music even with the higher frequencies EQ'd down. Works OK for me as I couldn't...

    Alton towers

I went a couple of year ago before the Smiler incident where that poor girl lost her legs, I remember queuing up for it not long after it had just opened and a bolt fell off and hit someone in front of us... they still left the ride open after a short inspection. Even when you were on it, it...

    Shuv's 'triple-whammy' car nightmare......

What a sorry excuse for a human being. I remember years ago one of my mates started seeing a lass that had just come out of a bad relationship, he ended up having paint stripper poured over his car for his troubles a few weeks after. Some people are just downright petty jealous idiots when it...

    Finally finished tuning my car.

Looks nice that, I've been looking at the hard top convertibles from Renault and Peugeot recently but the diesel versions purely for a bit of cost saving and some roof down action in the summer! Just need to find a buyer for my 197 as I can't justify accepting a part x/trade in price against one.
